The weird output was caused by running imwheel (to get firefox go back/forward in history). I disabled that so that I get nice output in xev on the extra buttons (buttons 8 and 9). But LOTRO still doesn't recognize them. Is it a crash during the very startup / loading of a Source engine based game, or is it a crash when joining multiplayer games?
