[Bug 27559] New: ImgBurn crash at startup when Wine's 'Windows Version' is set to 'Vista' (or newer)
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Oct. 22, 2026

Oct. 22, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27559 Summary: ImgBurn crash at startup when Wine's 'Windows Version' is set to 'Vista' (or newer) Product: Wine Version: 1.3.22 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.imgburn.com/ OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: lightning_uk(a)imgburn.com I've had a bunch of crash logs sent to me over the past year where ImgBurn crashes unrecoverably on startup when users are running it under Wine but was never able to reproduce the error until today. It turns out that if Wine's 'Windows Version' is set to 'XP' (default and what I'd always been using) everything works fine. The second it's changed to 'Vista' (or newer), the app crashes at startup. I've managed to get a crash call stack via madExcept / Eurekalog and have now traced the problem back to the 'Explorer' style component it uses in the 'Disc Layout Editor' window ('TVirtualExplorerTree' by MustangPeak). It looks like it's related to namespace stuff and therefore the shell? I've made/attached a Delphi demo app with a single form and single instance of 'TVirtualExplorerTree' to hopefully make testing and debugging this issue a little easier. Without fail, it'll crash when Wine's 'Windows Version' is set to 'Vista' but it's fine as 'XP'. I'm using Wine in Ubuntu 11.04 for testing. The programs (ImgBurn and demo app) work fine on a real Windows XP, Vista or 7 installation. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 30639] New: Audio stuttering and performance drops in Star Wolves 3
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Oct. 16, 2026

Oct. 16, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30639 Bug #: 30639 Summary: Audio stuttering and performance drops in Star Wolves 3 Product: Wine Version: 1.5.3 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_8237.shtml OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: download, regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com CC: patrakov(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: 275dfb83f2371a476b615b260465afb3cdf67f32 Due to a recent commit in Wine I get severe audio stuttering as well as slowdowns in certain games. This seems to affect only a small number of games, the vast majority of my games are still running fine. Whether these games are buggy ones or it is indeed a problem with the patch I can't decide as I don't have Windows installed to check how these games behave under native Windows. 275dfb83f2371a476b615b260465afb3cdf67f32 is the first bad commit commit 275dfb83f2371a476b615b260465afb3cdf67f32 Author: Alexander E. When I advance in the game or when I load a saved game I get severe audio stuttering and framerate drops below 15 fps. This makes the game hardly playable. If I quit playing and go back to the main menu, everything is back to normal. The demo for the game is protected with Starforce so it cannot be tested. Droplitz (Steam version): this is a puzzle game. A certain sound effect is intended to play when I create a path for the 'drops' and they make their way to their goal. When this happens I observe the same audio stuttering and performance drops. It lasts only for 2-3 seconds so it's not so severe. Armored Fist 3: audio (both music and speech) are stuttering heavily and it affects performance too. Link to the demo added to URL. There is no music in the demo, but you should observe the problem with speech after starting a new game. HoverAce: the same stuttering in audio and slowdowns can be observed. No demo available. Terminal output doesn't show anything related. [Bug 27336] New: Starcraft 2: Broken Sound
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Sept. 23, 2026

Sept. 23, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27336 Summary: Starcraft 2: Broken Sound Product: Wine Version: 1.3.20 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: mmdevapi AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: aeneas(a)q-mail.me Since wine 1.3.19 the sound in StarCraft 2 as well as in other games (see comments from http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20882 ) is very broken. It has a lot of glitches and crashes very often. If it crashes, I have to select another Sound Device in the StarCraft settings to enable the sound again. Pre 1.3.19 using a mmdevapi override (disabled) was enough to enable sound. I report this using ALSA as my sound driver. eSound actually works pretty well but has a latency of about 0.6 - 0.8 seconds which is very anoying If you need any further information, like logs or something please contact me. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
