I believe this has to do with the sound level, but I am not sure. Yesterday, (Thu 20071220) when training a new user, the microphone volume had a great deal of trouble adjusting. When it finally did adjust, training went poorly, often showing a red bar to indicate that the sound was too loud. Today using the above git, the red bar appears less frequently but it still shows up. On Windows, you can just click somewhere else, and the moment the popup menu loses focus, it goes away. I noticed on Linux, the popup menu does not have keyboard focus. Starcraft is completely red when running with DirectDrawRenderer set to opengl and RenderTargetLockMode set to readtex. I have a GeforceFX5700LE, running the latest NVIDIA beta driver 169.04. Indeed, you have to do it manually (via right clicking on the volume control icon on the system toolbar) on that system. Susan confirms this happens for her, too.
