Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: g9xhh5p02(a)sneakemail.com Created an attachment (id=9396) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9396) console output Environment: - Ubuntu Linux 7.10: Gutsy Gibbon - xfce desktop - wine-0.9.49, installed form the winehq.org APT repository. - no windows installation - trying to run Sid Meier's Pirates! installed from cd with no patches - nVidia GeForce 6600 GT video card I was able to install Sid Meier's Pirates without much trouble, and managed to get past the two animated studio splash screens at startup by pressing Esc before each one finished. (The screen was blank white instead of showing the animation, but the familiar splash screen audio played.) The game's title screen then appeared, and then the process seemed to stop dead. I did not reach the game's main menu. Please see the attachment for wine console output. Wine settings: - Application Settings -> Windows Version: Windows 98 - Graphics -> Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse: no - Graphics -> Allow the window manager to control: yes - Graphics -> Emulate a virtual desktop: no - everything else is set at default values Steps to reproduce: Delete the .wine directory, and run wine config to create a new one. Run the Pirates! install program Try to start the game. All test of directx (dxdiag.exe) is OK, but some textures in CSS are broken. As reported in the AppDb of WineHQ, the game menu work perfectly, but if I'll try to start a new campagne, the game load everything, and on entering in-game, a window appear, named "Crash" like in my screenshoot. The little notifier that circles the mouse shows up, but the problem will not respond as it should. I would know, because I wrote the program. Ubuntu version 8.04 (though I noticed the problem since as far back as I've been using Ubuntu, which is 7.04), and most every Wine version, including the newest one on Wine's website which is wine-1.0-rc1. It works, but I encountered some visual errors. Looks like parts of the character textures become rainbow colored (see screenshots for more details). This problem is not permanent. It's happening randomly and so I suspect this could also be a bug in the mesa i915 driver (so I'm filing a bugreport there too).
