Problem does not occur with a native gdiplus dll. Compare the two screenshot: the first one with native dll, the second one with the builtin dll. Note the behaviour in a real Windows 10 box is the behaviour of the native dll. Steps to reproduce: 1) create a disk entry in ~/.wine/dosdevices ln -s /someplace_with_CD_image ~/.wine/dosdevices/q\: 2) run winecfg, select disk tab. 3) Select q: 4) Show advanced 5) Set to manual setup, disk label to "SOMETHING", disk ID to "FEEDBE" 6) APPLY 7) verify data by selecting some other drive, then re-selecting q: 8) quit winecfg 9) Restart winecfg and reselect the disk tab. Steps to reproduce: DX81b_SDK.exe with SHA1: 221c60334da54e8e670741e7090e51255ad0284c MD5: 0ef4637b05b77ae8f75d58e17f0e7d6d DX81b_SDK.exe is a self extracting zip file. cd to the extracted directory and run: wine DXF/setup.exe (Changing to the DXF directory and then wine setup.exe makes no difference). Go through the steps and during the install at 0% a message box with the above error pops up. Unix symlinks could be mapped into junction points. This would allow applications (e.g. Picasa) avoid following symlinks if they wanted to. Also, the .net 2 installer would be happier in winxp mode if wine supported junction points (see bug 10601): "The .NET 2.0 Framework installer checks if the target volume is NTFS filesystem type and then uses the FSCTL_SET_REPARSE_POINT ioctl (used for mount points and junctions) to create junction points for each registered assembly in Windows SxS directory to GAC assembly directory (link target). Basically the junction point is used to redirect access from one directory to another."
