This is fixable by replacing this file with current upstream pip, https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/54/2e/df11ea7e23e7e761d484ed3740285… The replacement for platform.linux_distribution() needs the distro module pulled in, so the virtualenv config needs to be updated as well. A user in #winehq reported this. Let's recap the history of the chat first to provide some insights of other problems encountered and solved.
