Reproduced the issue with nouveau/mesa 17.1.3 and nvidia binary drivers 381.22. Disabling anti-aliasing and lowering detail level to the minimum doesn't help. According to my testing the commit which caused the slowdown is commit 15d53761a5fbfc12fc5f9974c029dace00eab33d Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Tue Jan 31 15:47:10 2017 +0100 wined3d: Do not pin system memory in wined3d_buffer_load_location(). Maybe a duplicate of bug #42588, although the symptoms are different. With the previous commit the game runs much smoothly. For comparison, in Wine 2.11 I'm getting only 4-5 fps when using nvidia 381.22. Before the regression Wine gave me 32-36 fps. Steps to reproduce the issue with the demo: 1. download and install the demo, install native d3dx9_33.dll before launching the game. 2. in the main menu start a new game, click <Next> on the character selection screen, press <Skip>. You are in a training chamber: run around in the room, rotate the camera using the right mouse button and observe how sluggish the game is. You can save the game here so you can reproduce the issue more easily the next time you enter the game. I cant change the size of the window. Its always fullscreen and just black. When i launch it with x11 then steam look normal except that the store page is black. (again) Application crashes It seems that if you first search does not find any result and you close the search box manually, then next searches won't crash even if you have matches. You can also crash when you start the game (right after the introductory video). Just change the game resolution via the SplinterCellUser.ini configuration file: Resolution=1920x1080 This behavior only happens when used with DXVK. It doesn't happen with WineD3D OpenGL (it's impossible to test with WineD3D Vulkan, as it completely breaks the look of the game). And of course, it doesn't happen with winex11.drv either. - The game was installed via CD-ROM and is up to date with the latest update (v1.3). - I use labwc/wlroots as WM. - Although I'm on Arch Linux, I compile wine manually with these options: ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-archs=i386,x86_64 --enable-win64. Then visual lags (constant, as if the program runs at 5 FPS) started to happen. Welp, they aren't solely visual, responsiveness also suffers. Audio, however, doesn't lag and is still smooth. The lag is also present on Wine10. Regression also confirmed on Wine-development v9.22 and with a demo version of the program and on different PCs (first on an Intel-based laptop (Core i3-7100), then on an AMD-based one (AMD Ryzen 5 5500U)), both with integrated GPUs.
