The bug report is still valid, justz AT&T Research was disbanded because the
bean counters did not see a value in "long term research" (i.e. research which
doesn't return hard dollars within the current quarterly blabla).

There's work ongoing to make new binaries and make a new site for the binaries.

How big can files be attached to a bugzilla bug ?
