Just ran into this, good to know it's not just me. Interesting technical problem. However as a workaround that doesn't require patching wine, I found that dgVoodoo (v2.79.3) fixes the problem completely.
That's great to hear. Can you provide any details on the install and settings? I was not able to replicate with dgVoodoo 2.79.3. Thanks.
