On Wine 10.17 and later, attempting to render SFLT by opening/creating a channel that uses it will instantly crash FL Studio. Interestingly, it doesn't bring up Image-Line's bug report screen. Instead it just instantly closes FL without an option to send diagnostic data or save the project you're working on. Note that the crash is specifically when *rendering* SFLT. Projects created in Windows or earlier versions of Wine that already have SFLT channels in them can be opened, edited, and played just fine, but opening any instance of SFLT (i.e. to configure settings) will cause the crash. -- Steps to reproduce: 1. Download & FL Studio in a clean prefix. Any version will work, as this is specifically a bug with SFLT's rendering. (although if you're using fl 2026 like I am make sure to NOT use any version above 26.1.3 as those versions currently do not work thanks to bug #60273. See https://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=194258 for archived downloads) 2. Download & install SFLT from https://estrobiologist.gumroad.com/l/sflt. The VST and FL versions have both been tested and are functionally identical, although for consistency's sake I would just install the native FL version. (SFLT is pay-what-you-want, so you can get it for free if you were worried about that) 3. Add SFLT to FL Studio's plugin registry in Options > Manage Plugins. Make sure the location of the plugin is listed as a VST3 folder (or, if you use the FL plugin, that it's in C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio [version]\Plugins\Fruity\Generators\SFLT). 4. Attempt to add a new channel that uses SFLT. Expected result: An SFLT channel is created successfully and you can use its UI to load a soundfont and whatnot. (This is what happens in Wine <=10.16) Actual result: FL Studio immediately closes. Console output shows the following logs of note: thread '<unnamed>' (1448) panicked at C:\Users\HP\.cargo\git\checkouts\egui-baseview-4ba286878e7cae67\94fb362\src\window.rs:125:13: gpu backend failed to initialize: Failed to get baseview's GL context ...among the others in the attached log file. -- This bug has been encountered/tested on the following: - Arch Linux, in a Distrobox container on Artix Linux, unknown Wine version (this was when I discovered the bug!) - Chimera Linux, running wine 11.15 (which is the latest version currently packaged for that distro) (unsuccessful) Those two attempts above were not specific "tests" but rather me encountering the bug naturally. They did not have clean prefixes. The following are proper tests done with clean prefixes: - Debian Linux in a Distrobox container on Chimera Linux, running wine 11.18 (unsuccessful) - Debian container, running wine 9.22-10.16 (consecutively, all successful) - Debian container, running wine 10.17 (unsuccessful) I have also tested this bug in Bottles w/wine 9.22 and 10.20 (successful and unsuccessful respectively), although I would obviously take those with a grain of salt as their versions of Wine up for download have various patches. tl;dr: I narrowed it down to 10.17. Anything before works, anything after doesn't Hardware does not seem to be a factor, as this bug has occurred on both my desktop (w/an AMD Radeon RX 590) and my laptop (Intel Haswell integrated graphics). All of the testing done in the Debian container, including the attached log, was done on my laptop. -- I have been unable to run a proper regression test between 10.16 and 10.17 due to some errors when running wine versions built from source (I'm likely doing something wrong :P). I'll probably try again tomorrow (and get some footage!), but for now this seems like enough. This is my first time submitting a bug report for Wine so please let me know if I've done anything wrong.
