[Bug 59572] New: Stratego (1997) shows a black screen on startup
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572 Bug ID: 59572 Summary: Stratego (1997) shows a black screen on startup Product: Wine Version: 11.5 Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://archive.org/details/STRATEGO OS: MacOS Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: tobbi.bugs@googlemail.com CC: jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr, z.figura12@gmail.com +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #58963 +++ I wanted to test the changes of bug #58963 with my copy of Stratego. Unfortunately, I'm getting a black screen when starting it. This all happens on a new wine prefix with the Windows version set to "Windows XP" (though any Windows version in that range will do). % ./wine --version wine-11.5-70-gfda4c08ffdc % openssl sha256 STRATEGO.iso SHA2-256(STRATEGO.iso)= e82340b5e23554618dfe406c102ca2a793b34e49723e921e5cc6a5911a9867e1 I'm trying to install Stratego from here: https://archive.org/details/STRATEGO Steps to reproduce: 1. Download the ISO and mount it on your system. 2. Change the configuration options of Wine to map E: to the path where the ISO image was mounted, as well as the Operating System to Windows XP (or Windows 98 - shouldn't matter) 3. Install Stratego by running the SETUP.EXE file with wine. 4. Start Stratego by running the Stratego.exe in C:/Program Files (x86)/Hasbro Interactive/Stratego/Stratego.exe Expected Result: Stratego starts Actual result: Black screen I created a log with WINEDEBUG=+all -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572 --- Comment #1 from Tobias (:Tobbi) Markus <tobbi.bugs@googlemail.com> --- Unfortunately, I can't attached the 7zipped log here due to file size limit. If you want, I can create a less verbose log and attach this here. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572 --- Comment #2 from Tobias (:Tobbi) Markus <tobbi.bugs@googlemail.com> --- I'm currently bisecting the issue. I noticed one thing while bisecting: I got an error message on the log that might be related to what's going on: 01a4:err:d3d:wined3d_check_gl_call >>>>>>> GL_INVALID_FRAMEBUFFER_OPERATION (0x506) from glClear @ dlls/wined3d/context_gl.c / 2246. That showed up at commit 0e1616f1f6676471ecaf61a473e9ae005442198e It might have showed up on latest HEAD as well, I might have missed it, though. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572 --- Comment #3 from Tobias (:Tobbi) Markus <tobbi.bugs@googlemail.com> --- I finished my bisection. The result is this: 2d7046c3458382c5cea6c373d1903e00d983cb7e is the first bad commit commit 2d7046c3458382c5cea6c373d1903e00d983cb7e (HEAD) Author: Elizabeth Figura <zfigura@codeweavers.com> Date: Sun Mar 15 23:25:30 2026 -0500 gdi32: Redirect system32 in AddFontResourceEx(). The output mentioned in https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572#c2 also never occurred again, so I was on the wrong track there. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59572 --- Comment #4 from Zeb Figura <z.figura12@gmail.com> --- Wait I'm confused. Didn't you say you were able to get further before, after patching the issue from bug 58963? Is the patch committed upstream broken relative to the one that I originally attached there? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I *think* your patch is working just fine. As I said, this is likely a different issue. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
