To get to this problem, you have to do winetricks d3dx9_36. Then, if you don't use native wmp9, you miss the intro movies, and it crashes after you press 'new game' or 'accept character'. The game needs winetricks d3dx9_36 physx to show anything and not to crash when boxes are broken so i'm using those. It also needs a software vertext blending implementation to show doors and objects, but i don't have the patch compiled now so i'm testing without it on unmodified wine 1.7.31. The ultimate cause is missing asfreader, so marking this duplicate.
thanks. not so long ago, 'BlazBlue Calamity Trigger' stopped skipping intro movie (somewhere about 2 weeks ago) initial issue is no sound during intro movie - still present also starting somewhere between 5.11-5.13 the colors in the intro movie became distorted (the colors in the game itself are correct) I hope I take the time to define a specific commit and create a separate topic for this (I don't see anything similar yet) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25329 --- Comment #30 from Zebediah Figura <z.figura12(a)gmail.com> --- Deadly Premonition is another game that depends on the ASF reader filter, albeit rather subtly. It's doing this, in pseudocode: graph->AddFilter(video sample grabber); graph->AddFilter(custom audio sink); graph->AddSourceFilter(L"UPDATA/MOVIE/ADVD_US.wmv", &source); for each output pin of source: graph->RenderEx(output pin, AM_RENDEREX_RENDERTOEXISTINGRENDERERS); for each output pin of source: graph->Connect(output pin, sample grabber sink); graph->AddFilter(null renderer); graph->Connect(sample grabber source, null renderer sink); This fails with the file source filter, because the first Connect() call will try to connect an already connected pin and fail, and then the second Connect() call (which is actually checked) will fail because the sample grabber sink isn't connected. But it would work with the ASF reader, because it exposes multiple streams directly. Note that the solution here isn't "RenderEx() should be connecting the video stream to the sample grabber sink"; we have a test that shows this isn't the case (search for the comment "Extra source pins on an intermediate filter are not rendered" in quartz:filtergraph). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25329 Wehrwolfmann <wehrwolfmann@gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |wehrwolfmann@gmail.com --- Comment #32 from Wehrwolfmann <wehrwolfmann@gmail.com> --- Filed bug 60156, which is the other half of what is discussed here: even with the WM ASF reader registered as the source filter for the ASF media type, .wmv intros still come out silent, because amstream renders only the reader's first output pin and never touches "Raw Audio 1". Measured on Sacred Gold under a Proton 11.0 prefix, with a patch attached. Mentioning it here since this is where the single-pin versus multi-pin source discussion already lives. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25329 Brendan McGrath <bmcgrath@codeweavers.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |bmcgrath@codeweavers.com --- Comment #33 from Brendan McGrath <bmcgrath@codeweavers.com> --- FWIW, I have a PoC/experimental branch that addresses this issue: https://gitlab.winehq.org/redmcg/wine/-/commits/bm_wb_25329 If anyone wants to try it, I would recommend using a new prefix (as this does modify the registry). I've only tested with Divinity II, but I'd be curious to know if it helps with other games. Note that for Divinity II, I also needed a gstreamer fix: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/merge_requests/12276 There is also a know A/V sync issue, but a fix for that will likely come later. The goal of this iteration is to allow you to launch the game. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25329 --- Comment #34 from Wehrwolfmann <wehrwolfmann@gmail.com> --- Your branch helps on a second game here, and without the gstreamer change. Sacred Gold (Steam appid 12320) plays eight .wmv intros, WMV3 video with WMA2 audio; one of them, introuw.wmv, is WMA Pro at 48 kHz. On stock 11.18 the ASF media type is not registered, so the graph is built through File Source (Async.) and the GStreamer splitter, and both pins connect. Once the ASF media type is registered the way your branch registers it, stock 11.18 picks the WM ASF Reader, {187463a0-5bb7-11d3-acbe-0080c75e246e}, and then renders only its first output pin: FilterGraph2_RenderEx <- called exactly once FILTER "Source" PIN Raw Video 0 dir=out CONNECTED PIN Raw Audio 1 dir=out *** NOT CONNECTED *** FILTER "0001" PIN Audio Input pin (rendered) dir=in *** NOT CONNECTED *** Same binary, same file, same prefix; the only difference is that one registry entry. With your branch, on a fresh prefix, RenderEx is called twice, both WMAudio Decoder DMO and WMVideo Decoder DMO are in the graph, Raw Video and Raw Audio both connect, and the intro plays with sound. The same holds for the WMA Pro file. I did not need the gstreamer merge request: this box has gst-plugins-ugly 1.28.7 with asfdemux. Two notes on the WIP commit "amstream: Render all source Pins", in case they save you time: - dlls/amstream/multimedia.c sets ret = S_OK unconditionally after the loop over the pins, which hides failures. On a path with nothing to render, stock 11.18 returns VFW_E_CANNOT_CONNECT (0x80040217) while the branch returns S_OK. dlls/amstream/tests/amstream.c expects VFW_E_CANNOT_CONNECT in two places, so the tests should catch it once they run; I built with tests disabled and did not run winetest myself. - MAX_STREAMS is a fixed 10 rather than growing with the number of pins. The "renders only the first output pin" behaviour is filed separately as bug 60156, with a patch and a test attached there; it may be worth linking the two. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25329 --- Comment #35 from Brendan McGrath <bmcgrath@codeweavers.com> --- Thank you for testing; I'm glad to hear this could help with another game. Thanks for the notes on that commit too. It's still very much a WIP. I will need to write tests to see what Windows is doing under the different failure conditions. I also need to explore what IAMMultiMediaStream::Render does, as I believe that is the only reason I keep a reference to the source PINs anyway. It's likely I should be examining the filter graph again at that time, which means IPin** ipin (and the associated MAX_STREAMS) will end up being removed. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
