WINEDEBUG=trace+win,x11drv After starting Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, when the intro video starts playing, the video does not show, but instead the screen is completely white. The sound does work, however. If one skips the intro, then the game works as normal. I think the same bug happens with GTA3 as well, but I haven't done much testing with GTA3. The intro video does work on some older Wine versions. The regression seems to be caused by commit ae3cd29bd513f7c1cffca95e9c0c8c8304eeb12c. The attached trace log is with WINEDEBUG=trace+win,x11drv. Some quartz- related present errors are visible in the log, but they may be a red herring, since they are visible even in the wine versions that do work. I grepped the log with grep -v NtUserGetKeyState, because the log was full of NtUserGetKeyState spam. The log is from version wine-11.14. I tried the xdotool selectwindow windowunmap trick that works with games like Post Mortem, but it doesn't seem to work here. It seems that the white window is not hiding the real window behind it.
