[Bug 60475] New: cmd: quoted redirection target of a built-in in a pipe is interpreted differently from Windows 11
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60475 Bug ID: 60475 Summary: cmd: quoted redirection target of a built-in in a pipe is interpreted differently from Windows 11 Product: Wine Version: 11.19 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: cmd Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: strucc.c@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Distribution: Debian Quoting interpretation mismatch in cmd.exe between Windows 11 and WINE: --- mkdir "d x" // BOTH: "d x" directory created // Built in command after "|" echo| set /p v="1.0" > "d x\a.txt" // WIN11: file "a.txt" written inside "d x" (content 1.0) // WINE: file "d" written in the current folder (content 1.0) // External command after "|" (no mismatch) echo hi | sort > "d x\b.txt" // WIN11: "d x\b.txt" written correctly // WINE: "d x\b.txt" written correctly --- Windows 11: cmd.exe 10.0.22631.4541. Wine: 11.19 Affected application: CODESYS V3.5 SP22 Patch 4. (not needed to reproduce the bug) Description: The post-install script of its Visualization package writes a repository marker with echo| set /p version="1.0" > "%~1\Visual Elements\formatinfo"; under WINE the file lands as ...\CODESYS\Visual and the Visualization Toolbox of the IDE stays empty. Additional information: See: https://github.com/Re-CODESYS/codesys-wine for details, and fix -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60475 Vishnunithyasoundhar S <svishnunithyasoundhar@gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |svishnunithyasoundhar@gmail | |.com --- Comment #2 from Vishnunithyasoundhar S <svishnunithyasoundhar@gmail.com> --- I've submitted https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/12302 Test 1: `echo hello 1>&2 | echo done` Windows 11: outputs `hello` and `done` on separate lines, no file created. My patch: same as Windows 11. Tentative patch: outputs only `done`, creates a file named `&2` containing `hello`. Test 2: `echo| set /p v="1.0" > "d x\a.txt"` Same result in all three cases — no stray `d` file, `d x\a.txt` contains `1.0`. So the tentative patch does fix the reported bug, it just over-quotes and breaks the `2>&1`-style clones. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Thank you, Checked, Confirmed, The attached patch fixes our issue. So getting this fix to the next release is already a step ahead from our perspective. There might be some more at this area - out of scope of the actual bug; Should I share it here, or? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Thank you very much for both of your efforts! I'm not deeply enough in Wine to directly contribute to the code, but as a "side product" from our work, I think this test might be useful for you. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60475 --- Comment #5 from Eric Pouech <eric.pouech@gmail.com> --- thanks for the test cases (any real live bugs are always welcomed) for the record, my local version of patch passes all the proposed tests waiting for previous MR to land before pushing these changes -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
