[Bug 59966] New: Some icons are shown as tofu in They Are Billions (GOG)
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59966 Bug ID: 59966 Summary: Some icons are shown as tofu in They Are Billions (GOG) Product: Wine Version: 11.12 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: lingm+winebz@posteo.org Target Milestone: --- Distribution: ArchLinux Created attachment 81360 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=81360 theyarebillions_console_log_wine_11.12 Reproduction steps: 1. Work around bug 59883 by setting both d3dcompiler_43 AND d3dx9_43 to (native, builtin). 2. Start with "wine TheyAreBillions.exe" 3. Start a new campaign. 4. Once the intro video ends, you'll be on a world map with only the mission "The Hidden Valley" available. Hover the cursor over it to be shown the mission status and difficulty. 5. The glyph in front of "Mission Available" is show as tofu. Same for the five glyphs for the difficulty rating. Neither "winetricks corefonts" nor "winetricks tahoma" help. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. On the right side is a reference how it should look from a youtube video. It's a bit hard to spot since the original glyphs are also boxes but different ones. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The problem is more obvious since the original glyph is a checkmark. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59966 --- Comment #3 from Rafał Mużyło <galtgendo@o2.pl> --- As expected, standard log doesn't show a thing. Mind doing one with 'font, gdiplus' channel ? (likely 'font' will suffice, but on the off chance that the other one will show something interesting...) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Opened the world map, hovered over a few of the missions and shut the game back down. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59966 --- Comment #5 from Rafał Mużyło <galtgendo@o2.pl> --- OK, I've been neglectful. Anyway: The string is "\25fc\25fb\25fb\25fb\25fb" (for the boxes). It's supposed to be Tahoma, well System => Tahoma. So, that's most likely just 'missing glyph' boxes, i.e. an incomplete substitution problem. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Shouldn't "winetricks tahoma" help then?
Not necessarily. Depends on whether or not the version of Tahoma that winetricks pulls has those glyphs. Also, there might be another gotcha - I don't know if it applies here, but wine's 'fake bold' sometimes leads to odd match failures... -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
