[Bug 60032] New: WINE64 cannot find exes in c:\windows
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60032 Bug ID: 60032 Summary: WINE64 cannot find exes in c:\windows Product: Wine Version: 11.13 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, source, win64 Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- $ WINEARCH=win64 wine 'c:\windows\regedit.exe' wine: failed to open "c:\\windows\\regedit.exe": c0000135 wine>dir c:\windows\*.exe Volume in drive c has no label. Volume Serial Number is 4300-0000 Directory of c:\windows 18/07/2026 16:04 71,680 hh.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 208,896 notepad.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 604,672 regedit.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 206 rundll.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 208 winhelp.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 139,264 winhlp32.exe 18/07/2026 16:04 14,848 explorer.exe 7 files 1,039,774 bytes 0 directories 28,872,695,808 bytes free $ file $WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/regedit.exe /tmp/wine/wineprefix/drive_c/windows/regedit.exe: PE32+ executable (GUI) x86-64, for MS Windows, 3 sections WINEARCH=wow64 and WINEARCH=win32 both work. "wine regedit" works as it apparently loads wine64-preloader, but I don't know how it chooses the correct regedit to load. WINEARCH=win64 wine 'c:\windows\syswow64\regedit.exe' works. WINEARCH=win64 wine64 'c:\windows\regedit.exe' works. I suspect this is an invalid bug to be honest. Though if any app were trying to call 'c:\windows\regedit.exe' it would fail. I'm not aware of one, though winetricks does. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60032 --- Comment #1 from Alexandre Julliard <julliard@winehq.org> --- There's no wine64 or wine64-preloader in current Wine. Something must be wrong with your setup. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Turns out I built an old Wine, and forgot! Tested with 9.20-ish and 10.0 and this issue appears, but it works fine in 11.0. So this was fixed, but flip to invalid if you think that's more fitting. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
