When SAR is the time source, the call to GetCorrelatedTime will result in an attempt to acquire SAR's critical section. This means this thread will hold the presentation clock critical section and then attempt to obtain SARs critical section. However, if SAR is in the process of shutdown in a parallel thread, then that thread will already hold the SAR critical section and call IMFPresentationClock::RemoveClockStateSink. This will attempt to acquire the presentation clock critical section. In other words, we have two threads trying to acquire the same two critical sections in the opposite order. The result is both threads waiting on the other and thus a deadlock. The existing implementation abuses zwp_locked_pointer_v1's set_cursor_position_hint side effect: it briefly locks the pointer, sets the hint, then unlocks. The compositor clamps the position hint to locked-surface bounds, so warps targeted outside that area are silently dropped, and the lock/unlock cycle has subtle side effects. wp_pointer_warp_v1 (staging in wayland-protocols 1.45) provides a direct primitive that does not require pointer locking. Because the stack grows downwards from the arguments, the reserve region would have overlapped the stack had it not been skipped. Problem is, this check does not account for the stack usage of ld.so. Some ld.so functions such as [1] has relatively big stack frames. If the arguments array is *just* above a reserve region, the overlap check will pass, the region will be reserved. Then after the control flow has been passed to ld.so, it will crash after the stack frame grows into the reservation.
