Then how can we figure out how to get a desktop shell working etc? Thanks for your three (very different) replies. >From Scott's comments I take it that the mount/unmount of file systems is such a basic part of *nix that it might take some lateral thinking to circumvent it. As for Sylvain's suggestion, I set up automounting this evening, but unfortunately this did not solve my problem: the same processes attached to /dev/cdrom were still open (5 belonging to wine and 1 to wineserver), and <eject> gave a "device busy" response. There is one possible significant difference between installation of a program and changing disks in the course of a game as you describe: in the first case wine is running setup.exe which is on the CD, and hence wine has processes open which access the CD drive. In your case wine is running the game program which has been transferred to the hard disk. It is now Riven which accesses the CD drive and (conceivably) when the time comes to change the CD, it will first close down all processes which use the drive. Maybe. Thanks for your comments. Listbox: LBS_NOSEL needs improvement?

Hello! In listbox.c one can find the following comment: * Probably needs improvement: * - LBS_NOSEL Does anybody know what this means? What is missing? I'm struggling with a listbox which has this attribute, and still it is possible to select from it -- under Windows. Can LBS_OWNERDRAWFIXED interfere with this? By the way, under Wine the WS_VISIBLE and WS_VSCROLL style options are missing on this listbox. However, it has a vertical scrollbar, and visible. :) Is this normal? (I found no documentation for WS_VISIBLE.) Thanks: Feri.

Large number of patches

We've been putting a fair bit of work into wine over the last 6-8 months, and we've only recently had time to sit back and make patches- so sometime in the next couple of days I should have about 30 patches to submit. Most of them under 100 lines, but a few are over 200 lines and the biggest is about 600 lines long. Some of them are solaris/big-endian specific, but the majority of them are not. I'll have the patches as separate patch files with ChangeLog entries and descriptions - the question is whether I should submit them to wine-patches as 30 separate email messages or as a single message with 30 attachements... Anyone have a strong preference on this? Anything else special I should do? Warren

Scrollbars misplaced in several apps

Several apps I've tried (including my company's app) have scrollbars in the wrong place, inset in the window by one scrollbar width. Duane Clark has seen this, too, and said "... the scrollbars being in the wrong position in the richtext window? I am pretty sure that is a richtext bug. I see it in every application that uses richtext. For example, run notepad and then resize the window. " (I tried running notepad, and couldn't reproduce it myself, so maybe I'm confused.) One app that shows the problem is Resource Hunter (free trial download at http://www.boilsoft.com/rchunter.html) Just start it, and look at the position of the scrollbars in the lower left pane. Is this a well-known problem? I'd like to try fixing it if nobody has a patch yet. I need to know why ExitThread is called inside the "start_process" function i.e. which thread we are exiting in this case? Another thing? Which function is responsible for stat executing the binary file? Yardi works!

I got Yardi Professional (the low-end version of the products at http://www.yardi.com) running under Wine, at least with its sample database! And it doesn't look bad.
