Application with access 97

Hi: I have an application implemented with Microsoft Access 97, i got some problems executing it with winehq. It opens but it closed throwing an exception. I have tried to change dll attributes, i put the native versions from windows in the system directory and then add a dll override with winecfg, but when i look at the trace in the debug i can see how it doesnt change, it still uses builtin version.. making a wine dll

hi!! i am a beginner in wine developing. i would like to try creating my own DLL inside Wine. ive been following the steps in the DEVELOPER'S HINTS file. i already have my Makefile.in <http://makefile.in/> and placed my directory in configure.ac<http://configure.ac/> it looks like this: tools/wrc/Makefile]) AC_OUTPUT dlls/w2lvpd/ if test "$have_x" = "no" however,im having problems with regenerating the ./configure file. it says here that i should use autoconf. but it shows this error: autoconf autoconf: configure.in <http://configure.in/>: No such file or directory i also tried autoconf-2.53, and resulted to this: autoconf-2.53 configure.ac:116 <http://configure.ac:116/>: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_EGREP i hope somebody could help me. i am using red hat linux 7.3, and wine-20050725. thanks!

DirectX9 and Halflife2

Hi all, Today I have been doing some experiments with halflife2 and the game works (atleast if launched through steam in my case) but there are some issues which I tried to address. The game uses the D3D9 Query mechanism (CreateQuery/Issue/GetData) to retrieve status information. HL2 uses this all the time and because the implementation is stubbed for the biggest part (and perhaps impossible to fully implement) you see thousands of FIXMEs which reduce the performance from a playable framerate to less than 1 fps. While looking into this issue I (perhaps) found one or more bugs and second I need some assistance. According to MSDN CreateQuery should be called with a NULL pointer to see if the 'Type' in question is available. Halflife2 doesn't do this NULL pointer check and passes a pointer. Further wine returns D3D_OK for unsupported types which should be D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE (wined3d's CreateQuery does this). I expect this is wrong and can supply a patch for this yet. The reason you see below. When the Query mechanism isn't available halflife2 moves over to a different backend (I think). Suddenly the screen becomes black and you see hundreds of lines like this: fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_UnlockRect unsupported unlocking to surface surf(a)0x7fe1d810 usage(512) I looked up the error and it seems UnlockRect isn't handling D3DUSAGE_DYNAMIC but I don't have enough d3d/opengl knowledge to fix this issue. I hope that someone can assist me with the UnlockRect (if it doesn't take that much time) so that halflife2 works fine out of the box. I guess the problem you are seeing depends on the setting for the Desktop directory, which is generated automatically (There are a couple more registry entries, which depend on z:): [Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Shell Folders] 1130228151 "Desktop"="z:\\home\\mjung\\Desktop" If you remove or remap the 'Z:' drive afterwards without adjusting these registry settings, the desktop shellfolder object won't initialize any longer, which is why the file dialogs won't work. I've got wine up. I think the 'strike-through upcase letter W' s are a red herring as they don't appear on my system and are probably locale related. Other than that clicking install just give an egg timer for a few seconds, (which you can do repeatedly), and nothing happens. Same there? manually creating the install directory doesnt help, though I wouldnt be suprised if this turns out to be an IO related problem. not sure what the next thing to try is, work on getting a trace of what's going on I think. (this maybe my first serious venture into debugging something on wine, I'll CC the devel list and see if someone can give a newbie some pointers) will persue it further tomorrow. wine ptrace trouble

Hi I've been trying to get an older game(Heart Of Darkness) to work with wine. Appearently the game uses some kind of copy-protection(securom i suppose) which let wine abort with the following error: "Trace/breakpoint trap". After some debugging sessions I managed to reproduce the problem. See the attached program(debug.c, simply compile with mingw). The problem is the following(as far as I understand it): - app sets up an exception handler - enables single-step debugging -> exception handler get invoked - in the exception handler:- re-enables single-step debugging - modifies some debug register in the CONTEXT struct -> because of that set_thread_context ist called and wineserver PTRACE_ATTACH to the process, modifies these registers, then resumes the process - as wineserver doesn't detach from the process it will get the next SIGTRAP signal and appearently it seems to ignore that signal - [as nobody cares about the SIGTRAP signal the process get killed] I'm not completly sure about the last step and the fact what wineserver really does with the SIGTRAP signal. However, I put together a solution which simply detaches from the process instead of resuming ptrace in set_thread_context(and als in get_thread_context, {read,write}_process_memory), see attached patch. With that patch my testcase finishes successfully and also the game starts. However, as im not sure if this is a desired solution or if this breaks anything else, maybe somebody more familiar with the material can comment. There are also some more places with the same situation(suspend_for_ptrace with following resume_after_ptrace) which might expose the same problem. Thx in advance.
