Preparing to do a Regression and Submitting Results

I'm getting ready to do a regression on a situation for an application, Edit Studio 4, that I'm trying to get running in WINE. The description of the problem is difficult to put into words and I'd like to use a "before and after" set of screen shots plus the results of any appropriate traces. I'd like to post the results here for your consideration. However, I'm concerned about the size of the resultant files. Are there formal or informal limitations on the size of attachments for this list? Or is it more appropriate to use the information in a "bug report?" Thanks, Dan

winsock: errs and fixmes, unimplemented socket level

Hi! When I start Space Empires IV, I get the following lines: fixme:winsock:convert_sockopt Unimplemented or unknown socket level err:winsock:WS_setsockopt Invalid level (65407) or optname (128) fixme:winsock:convert_sockopt Unimplemented or unknown socket level err:winsock:WS_setsockopt Invalid level (65407) or optname (128) fixme:winsock:convert_sockopt Unknown SOL_SOCKET optname 0xff7f err:winsock:WS_setsockopt Invalid level (1) or optname (65407) The game does work otherwise perfectly, but the network playing is working correctly. I can create a server, and clients can connect to it, but when the server is supposed to send a game-file to the clients, nothing happens. shlfolder test fails on my system

I get among other failures in other dlls one at the recently added shlfolder test in shell32. It fails for the three cases where it probably is supposed to compare testdir with test1.txt, test2.txt, and test3.txt. While my first idea was a difference in character weighting and comparison I did some more investigations and it seems the test does make specific assumptions as to in which order IEnumIDList should return filenames. The test assumes they are returned in the order as they were created. IEnumIDList is basically creating that list through FindFirstFile and FindNextFile. Is FindFirstFile/FindNextFile really supposed to return items in a particular order or is the test making assumptions which happen to work for some systems accidentally? Rolf Kalbermatter

So, Its quite possible, likely that the X Server has the pipe open for writing but the pipe is empty which would return EAGAIN, why is this then treated as an error ??? More later.... Bob

If you need that, it's because some other types are not properly declared const, and this is what needs to be fixed. The conversion may need to be done at some other level, or you may need to only do it when copying the path. [OT] Anyone want to write a book on Wine?

Hey folks, I've had an editor approach me about writing a book on Wine; it's not something I or anyone around here expressed a strong interest in. However, she seems very nice, and so I offered to pass her query along and see if anyone else is interested. If you are, please contact her directly; I've obfuscated her email in down below.
