MinGW cross compilation enviroment setup

Hello! Here are the steps needed to setup a MinGW on a Red Hat Linux like rpm based system (Fedora Core, Mandrake Linux, ... should probably work even on a SuSE Linux) * Download the mingw-binutils and mingw-gcc srpm's from http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/contrib/libc6/SRPMS/ * Download the mingw-3.0-1.src.rpm srpm from http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/contrib/libc6/noarch/SRPMS/ * Build the mingw and mingw-binutils rpm's (rpmbuild --rebuild $SRPM) and install them. * After the above step you can build the mingw-gcc rpm too. Install it. * That's almost everything: you need this patch for wine's configure to make it find your mingw binaries. * For instructions how to build the Wine tests for Windows see the Wine Documentation. You may want to try your local Red Hat mirror for the above srpm's. bt in traces

Hi Is it possible to output the backtrace while the program is running? I mean that with a new debug command e.g. wine_dbg_bt or so you could output not only the name of the called function and the argument values (as with the debug channels) but also the call stack where it came from. That's of course only temporarily for debugging inside wine. If I see that a function has a problem because the argument is wrong it would be much easier to find out where this came from. If I only want to use it inside wine it should have access to the call stack information, no? Thanks bye Fabi

Linking against Wine under Linux

Hello! I'm writing on a software that supports different (GUI) drivers for different OSs. "Driver" refferes to my software (GUI library) having different plugins (by implementing a subclass of an abstract base class) for different OSs. I have an X11 plugin for doing X11 calls on X11, one for Mac OS X, one for Curses and one for Windows. I now would like to compile the Windows specific classes of my library under Linux using Wine. The Windows version does use low level 2D graphics calls (WIN32). This works fine if using f.e. Cygwin as compiler environment under Windows (rest of the software is a little bit unix centric). I now would like to use the Windows driver under Linux but I have a problem finding the correct linker call. This is more difficult, since I do not use C/C++ directly but another compiler that generates C code wich in turn gets compiled using gcc. So I cannot use winemaker, for which I found some documentation. The Windows Version links explictely against kernel32, user32 and gdi32 DLLs. If I under Linux just leave them away and link only against wine (-lwine) I got unresolved symbols during linking for the Win32 API calls. After that I tried to link against the <windowsdllname>.dll.so files I found (under /usr/libwine, using the Debian testing packages), too, since I assume that these contain the functions I use. But I cannot get the linker to find them. strace shows that it is always searching for lib<windowsdllname>.dll.so. For example it searches for libuser32.dll.so while I only have a user32.dll.so. Is it correct, that I have to link explictely against this libraries? If yes, how can I get the linker to search for the correct names? If no, how to get my stuff to link? -- Gruß... Tim.

I'm adding more types to VarRound and I'm also implementing the test_VarRound function (programmer's pride :) For this I tested more cases on Windows and got strange results (in my view). VT_R4: 7.850 -> VarRound(1) -> 7.800 VT_R4: 7.851 -> VarRound(1) -> 7.900 Is this the binary representation (in)accuracy? How can I test if the rounding worked ok when the numbers may differ in the last (invisible) bits? And how should I round a currency? It's valid on Windows but I couldn't interpret the results. Is this some kind of fixed comma type? bye Fabi

Hi, first of all I have to congratulate. Wine runs my Delphi Apps almost without any problems ! The uxtheme bug of the December-Release has also gone. It's ok now ! But unfortuneally I had to report another bug today. Text of the components TLabel and MessageBox Text is not visible anymore. All Message boxes are empty. The buttons on the Message boxes are ok.
