Asymmetric mouse movement in DGA2 mode

Hi: I patched 'windows/x11drv/event.c' to run Starcraft in DGA2 mode. In DGA2 I noticed that the mouse movement is't symmetric, ie: mouse speed when moving left/up < mouse speed when moving right/down. To fix this, I modified 'dlls/x11drv/mouse.c', adding: void X11DRV_DGAMotionEvent( HWND hwnd, XDGAMotionEvent *event ) { update_key_state( event->state ); // HACK: fix asymmetric mouse motion if(event->dx < 0) event->dx *= 2; if(event->dy < 0) event->dy *= 2; send_mouse_event( hwnd, MOUSEEVENTF_MOVE, event->dx, event->dy, 0, event->time ); } (just empirical values) Why does this happen? Is there any cleaner solution? Observation: in 'send_mouse_event' says: "/* Relative mouse movements seem not to be scaled as absolute ones */" BTW, in this application, when the mouse reaches the border of the screen (moving the mouse cursor out of the window), the view is supposed to be scrolled in that direction. This doesn't work in DGA mode, but works when not using DGA Any idea? System: latest winex CVS version + XFree86 4.2.0

Making a patch

I have implemented the RunFileDlg in shell32.dll, but I don't know how to make a patch and submit it to wine-patches. Well, I have a pretty good idea, but I don't want to submit a garbage patch. Can you please help me ? Thanks.

Call for application owner

Having just fixed Bug 671, I think we need an owner for the Valve Hammer application. It demonstrates numerous bugs on the CVS version (4 days old). The bugs range from LoadLibrary errors during the installer run, to gui problems with the main screen. Even the tab control demonstrates differences from native in this package. I don't have the time to use this program as a test base and hope someone can step up and do it. The installer is the second attachment to Bug 671 and is all you need to get started. WINE dlls on Windows Status Update

As many of you know, I have been in the process of porting the WINE shared libraries to Mingw as Windows PE dlls for the ReactOS project. Below are results of testing the dlls that we can build from the current WINE tree under Windows98SE. We were going to use win2k for this test however the Windows File Protection was giving us to much trouble for it to be worth it at this time. Another test is planned at the end of the month using win2k. Thanks to Chris Gianelloni for helping to setup and run these test in VMware. I have some comments - sometimes you mark as resolved and ask to reopen if the bug still exists bugs with very nice reports. I think this is good approach when you can't check whether the problem still exists or for some obscure applications, but many of the bug reports you closed are short, nice and consious. I think better approaches with these sort of bug reports is: a) try to reproduce yourself - the best approach. Your confirmation in the bug comments is very important for developer who may try to fix the issue. b) if research looks complex - a half a way to solving a bug, you can add comment, smth like "Needs to be confirmed". In both cases bug can be assigned to the component owner. c) ask to confirm without resolving the bug All these approaches insure that bug report won't be forgotten and this can happen if the bugs are just marked as "resolved". Could you try to go through the old bugs you marked as resolved? I already started to do this. I'll leave my comments in the bugs I reviewed. Improving debugging (gdb) support

Hi, I'd like to improve debugging support for Wine, and have time to undertake a larger project. Either I could work on winedbg to match gdb's features, or I could try to make gdb understand Wine better. Given the amount of useful frontends for gdb, it seems wiser to go for the second option. I'd love to be corrected if you think working on winedbg is a better choice. Gdb seems to have trouble understanding the way windows processes run in Wine. If anyone has thought about this, I'd like to know your opinions on a good solution to this problem. Furthermore, it seems useful to make gdb parse the .pdb format, or other debugging information. First on my priority list is cleaning up and releasing the Microsoft Visual C project files generator though. One of Alexandre's Makefile changes broke it and I haven't taken time fixing it yet...

Latest CVS build can't find c:\windows\system

Just updated to the lastest CVS (June 4 2002) and I'm getting the following WINE error when trying to run any application: Invalid path 'c:\windows\system' for system directory: does not exist Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file. Relevant snippets from my wine config file: [Drive C] "Path" = "/windows" "Type" = "hd" "Filesystem" = "win95" [wine] "windows" = "C:\\windows" "system" = "C:\\windows\\system" And from /etc/fstab: /dev/hda1 /windows vfat rw,auto,umask=000 0 0 /dev/hda1 is a Fat32 partition and does indeed contain \windows and \windows\system subdirectories. All lower case. winecheck gives me a "99% correct" score, and reports no problems with "Drive C" (all errors are related to file permission issues on Drive D which is not being used here.) snippet from winecheck output: ----------------------------- checking config file ----------------------------- 003.
