The Visual Studio 2022 installer needs to be able to lookup a valid WinMD file for the 'Windows.Networking.Connectivity' namespace in order for the installation to start. A normal Windows installation contains lots of individual '.winmd' files (e.g. 'Windows.Networking.winmd'), which we cannot redistribute. Fortunately, Microsoft provides an open-source project called 'windows-rs', which contains a combined 'Windows.winmd' file that is explicitly MIT-licensed: https://github.com/microsoft/windows-rs/blob/master/crates/libs/bindgen/def… Make RoResolveNamespace resolve anything starting with 'Windows' by just pointing to this giant file. A full implementation will require us to actually walk the 'WinMetadata' directory (if the caller provides a custom path) and parse the matched '.winmd' file. A window has been created for saving and loading the scanner configuration. The default configuration file is saved at %AppData%/Manufacturer/ProductName.cfg, and the user can also choose their own save path. In addition, when any setting is changed, it is automatically saved in the configuration file. The `Allocate` method has two variants: * Allocate(size_t): Performs a normal allocation, but throws a COMException on OOM. * Allocate(ptrdiff_t offset, size_t size): Allocates a block of size `size`, and initializes a control block for an `IWeakReference` at `offset`. The weak reference resolves to the allocated object, which can finally be freed by calling `ControlBlock::ReleaseTarget`. The IWeakReference implementation seems to be rather odd, which I have tried to demonstrate (and test) in the unit tests: * `ReleaseTarget` only frees the object if the strong ref count is _below_ 0. * `IWeakReference::Resolve` will _not_ set the output pointer to `NULL` if the weak reference is no longer alive. It also * adds an `Autocenter` registry app key that lets the default `DIPROP_AUTOCENTER` setting to be set on a per device and per application and device level, * logs a warning on acquisition when `DIPROP_AUTOCENTER` hasn't been checked or set that that is the case and the default can be changed via the 'Autocenter' app key if required.
