The prototype isn't correct - it's not a regular wndproc. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/commctrl/nc-commctrl-subc... Once the prototype is correct, there should be no need for the (SUBCLASSPROC) cast in the call to `SetWindowSubclass()` below. This is why it failed to run on Windows for me. I haven't looked into why, but if I toggle the 'Wrap long lines' option, then the status bar fails to update thereafter. This happens with Wine and under Windows. -- https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/787#note_8216
