Hi, I'm just curious whether we are going to get a Wineconf in 2010? Or was it 'decided', due to the economic issues currently for example, to skip this year? -- Cheers, Paul.

Announcing WineConf 2009

Dear Wine developers, You may recall that I volunteered to help host WineConf in the Netherlands in 2007 when, after a vote, an offer by Dan Kegel to host at Google's offices in Zurich won the bid. Last year WineConf went across the pond to Minnesota, so it seems natural that this year's WineConf will be hosted in the country with the highest number of Wine developers per capita ;-) At Twente University Campus to be precise, near the city of Enschede: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=1047705954276368339… >From November 6-8 (Friday to Sunday). I chose this place because of its good facilities and relatively low costs; we want to make the conference accessible for as many developers as possible. Minor travel note

I noticed one minor nit on the wiki that probably will make no difference at all. The wiki says to take the #9 bus designated 'University'. But the travel planning sites say that the #9 bus from Hengelo will say 'Enschede' (it passes the University on its way). The buses probably say both, but figured I'd mention it just in case... Hopefully, I've confused someone else enough that I won't be the only horribly lost person on Friday. See you then! Cheers, Jeremy

Settling up for conference fees

Hi Folks, Okay, the alternate approach we were trying for didn't work out. So I'm hoping that I can ask everyone to just use Paypal to send Euros to donate(a)winehq.org. (It should work; one person has already succeeded in doing so). If you really can't make it work out, we'll see about another approach, but I'd appreciate it if you could try. Wine(Pre)Conf

Hi guys, As you all know WineConf 2009 will take place at the campus of the University of Twente in the Netherlands. This is the university at which I have studied and still live. Julius Schwartzenberg (a computer science student) and I have talked to various students and employees whether they would be interested in WineConf. We have the impression that there is quite some interest from them in WineConf (it is hard to say how much people are interested but I would guess a few dozen). WineConf itself is open to anyone but except for AJ his keynote, I don't think it is that interesting for outsiders. What I'm suggesting is that we hold a 'WinePreConf' on the Friday before WineConf at lets say 4pm or so at which we will give one or two presentations (lets say half an hour each) about Wine. It would be meant for students and others with a technical background and it would explain things like how Wine works, how it is developed, what it is used for ..... and other interesting you could think about. After the presentations there would be time for some beer. Attendees can ask questions and perhaps can be lured to hack on Wine as well ;) Personally I think such an event would be good to give others an overview of Wine and to attract more developers. I don't expect all Wine developers to be there but I expect that a big part of us is already available by then (at least the US guys, since US planes arrive in the morning). I think it would even be possible to hold such an event in a lecture room which has video equipment and even streaming support, so we could have some Youtube movies in good quality ;) What do you guys think about it? I really think there is an interest in this and I think the university might be willing to help as well. Regards, Roderick Colenbrander

problem with typing in language other than english

Hello, all I need to type in more than 1 language in one text file in notepad of wine. I am using KDE and wine-1.1.24. When i change the "input language" in KDE with Alt-Ctrl-K key , most of the keys in notepad of wine will not display any character any others will type the "?" character. :-( Please tell me in detail: 1 - How must i activate "input language" changing in wine ? 2 - After that, when i am running a notepad with wine , with what key i can change the "input language", or bring up "input language" icon of taskbar of Win-XP ?( that this changing can be done in Win-XP by Alt-Shift keys) thanks

Hackathon 2009

Hi, i hope i can join my first wineconf this year, i heard about the Hackathon an thought: damn, i dont have a laptop, just a highend desktop-pc. and it will be hard to travel with a desktop, its possible, but i dont want to. the only thing i have is a old laptop with max. 250 MHz and 64 MB Ram. May that be enough?
