A freeware version can be downloaded from http://www.hex-rays.com/idapro/idadownfreeware.htm The background colour of the scrollbars at the bottom and right edges of the disassembly window is white in Wine. They should be a grey/white crosshatch pattern. Strangely, this issue seems to apply only to the disassembly window; scrollbars for other windows (for example text search results windows) have the correct background. To reproduce: download and install IDA Pro freeware version. Run the program, and open a Windows executable. Notice the white scrollbar backgrounds. Choose Search/text... (or press Alt-T) and enter some text which appears several times in the program (e.g. mov). I don't have any specific examples of mistaken computations, but the code seems to basically work by chance. More specifically, the indention of the code seems to be the following: * two time_t values are computed, corresponding to the beginning and the end of the requested year (year_start and year_end); * a binary search procedure is used to narrow down that interval around a DST change event. However, this cannot work in general, because binary searches only work for monotonic data, and DST is not monotonic (each year it switches forth and back, assuming there is DST at all). The algorithm works "by chance", because it first tests the beginning of the interval and then half of the interval, and usually beginning of January and beginning of June are on different DST values; then the algorithm recurses on the first half of the year, and there DST is monotonic (again, usually; I don't know if this is always true). Moreover, year_end is also set to an invalid value (0th day of 12th month, which is a month past December). Doing the "arithmetic" this corresponds to 31st of December, but is that a supported way to specify it? Why not directly setting 31st of December? The FormatMessageW (winbase.h) function fails if given the valid error code CRYPT_E_NO_MATCH as an argument (see attached code snippet). It returns 0 indicating an error and does not modify the lpBuffer pointer argument. Applications that assume that FormatMessageW will allocate the error message at the memory address lpBuffer is pointing to will crash (like in my case) if they initalized lpBuffer with 0 before. Technically, this is the fault of the application since it assumed that FormatMessageW will not return an error if given a well-formed function call, but wine is missing the error message in the first place and that should be fixed. I'd also like to propose setting lpBuffer to a pointer to an empty string (null character) instead of not modifying it when FormatMessageW fails. (Create a global empty string variable instead of allocating memory each time). This behavior would adhere to the FormatMessageW documentation and would make applications with missing error checks more fail safe in this case.
