Only a German-language demo is available. I've provided the link to download it. Once installed, the demo launches in windowed mode. To run it in full-screen mode, add the option '-fullscreen' ('wine perry_rhodan.exe -fullscreen'). There is a workaround: run the demo using the option '-compatibility_mode' ('wine perry_rhodan.exe -compatibility_mode'). In compatibility mode, the game starts but in the lowest graphics settings. When you go to 'Settings' ('Einstellungen'), and try to set the 'Default settings' ('Voreinstellung') to 'High' ('Hoch'), it remains on 'Custom' ('Eigene') with 'Shadowmap' disabled in 'Shadows' ('Schatten'). The attempt to activate 'Shadowmap' shadows fails (it remains deactivated even after the settings have been saved) and the message below appears in the log. I assume this is related to the video that should be playing at that point. The game also crashes on closing. With dotnet35sp1 installed via winetricks: The game can be launched but there are several error messages ("Unhandled exception in a component in your application") each time a video is played. These errors can be ignored by clicking on "Continue". The sound of the video is audible, but the video display is truncated. This might be something that's related to Delphi. For an example of the problem, please download the TRichView control demo from https://www.trichview.com/rvfiles/TRichViewDemosSetup.exe. After installing the program, execute the file ActionTests/ScaleRichView/ActionTestUni.exe. Click somewhere inside the application window so that the menu will display (this is actually a separate bug from what is being reported here). From the File menu, add a New file. The application window will now disappear before reappearing with a new tab. Alternately switching between different tabs will also cause the application window to disappear before reappearing. This behavior has only happened since v10.17. And once the application window blinks out, the menu will now only appear again after refreshing the window by minimizing or maximizing it. Individual menu items can also be made to appear by clicking where a menu item should be. But the main issue that I'm reporting here is that the whole window blinks out before reappearing again after certain functions are done. When I manually launch the game, it actually appears that the execution of the program is getting stuck in an endless loop as the program does not end. I had to manually abort the program by entering "Ctrl-C". I am including a fresh log from the successful execution of the game with version 10.20 of Wine and a log when attempting to launch the game after installing version 11.0-rc1 of Wine. A brief MCVE is attached (source-encoding-agnostic) that shows the problem by rendering a message box. Of course it renders just fine on Windows 10. I originally encountered this when a Cheat Engine cheat table used Unicode headers and emojis for purely aesthetic purposes. Take for example the symbol "????" which is U+1D412: MATHEMATICAL BOLD CAPITAL S I could find out that the only font in a proper Windows install that *does* include that character is `seguisym.ttf`. I used such one liner to confirm this: ``` python3 -c "from fontTools.ttLib import TTFont; import sys; cmap=TTFont(sys.argv[1]).getBestCmap(); print(cmap.get(0x1D412,'MISSING'))" EXAMPLEFONT.ttf ``` Thus, as a workaround, I copied all seg* fonts to my /usr/share/fonts from a Windows install, did a `wineboot -u`, and then tried using the following crude registry modification to force the symbol font. As a result, shell font did change to Segoe, but the math symbols still rendered as tofu: ``` Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes] "MS Shell Dlg"="Segoe UI Symbol" "MS Shell Dlg 2"="Segoe UI Symbol" "Tahoma"="Segoe UI Symbol" "Segoe UI"="Segoe UI Symbol" "Segoe UI Symbol"="Segoe UI Symbol" "Segoe UI Emoji"="Segoe UI Symbol" ``` I also tried setting winecfg's "Message Box" configuration to use Segoe UI Symbol with no change in result.
