I disagree. The Wine project has to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. I would discourage linking to any questionable download sites for Microsoft files. dll-files.com and dll-downloads.com seem like bad places to link, as they are clearly not obeying Microsoft's EULA. Examples of ok sites include microsoft.com, tucows.com, and fileplanet.com. It's probably best to only link to download sites in the US/UK/EU area, too, as an extra precaution. - Dan

Thats basically what I said, just in a few more words in my last email.. I did not, however realize that acledit was the only one that needed to be stubbed in order to get the program to pickup the dll. Additional question for sending to the list: Is there a fully stubbed dll in the current tree that I could use as a reference to start a stub for acledit? Hi, I've noticed very strange thing today: www.winehq.org resolves to http://searchportal.information.com/index.mas?epl=00630086VFAXVE0DWlgVVRBeV… This site claims to be winehq.org. "Winehq.org - What you need, when you need it" I cannot perform "git fetch"!! Quick workaround I found is to use winehq.com, but how can I explain this to git? Does anybody except me suffer the same mystery thing? Contributing money to WINE?

As a WINE user, I find myself in a (seemingly) unique situation. I'll do my best to explain my motivations, and what resources are at my disposal. Basically, I would like to give money to the WINE project. I'm a home linux user, and a techops RHEL admin at work. I have no need for windows, MS Office, or other high priority applications. I do play Guild Wars and Eve Online and have been fairly active on AppDB and bugzilla. I have no desire to write and contribute code to the project, as I would like to spend my home time playing Games and avoiding development work. Untill just recently, I was a Transgaming subscriber. I canceled my account the day that the 32-bit cursor patch went into WINE git. I would like to take the money that I had reserved for transgaming and donate it to the WINE project. Herein lies the dilemma. Looking at the contributions page, I am confronted by the following: Wine Party Fund: The purpose of the Wine Party Fund is to show appreciation to Wine developers by collecting funds for developer meetings, such as future Wine Conferences, or in some cases to purchase documentation. That's fine and all, but I am looking for a way to contribute to the actual development (and only development). If I wanted to buy someone beer, it would be an attractive woman (If Alexandre is a unisex/woman's name, I sincerely appologize). Having been to a number of conferences, they don't stirke me as being of much value. I want to pay for a developer, or rather his/her development time. This brings me to Codeweavers and Transgaming. As far as I can tell, TG deosn't really give a whole heck of a lot back to the WINE project. Purchasing a TG subscription really is not in anyone's best interests. However, Codeweavers appears to do a whole lot. The only problem is that I have no interest in their product, and purchasing it only funds WINE development indirectly/partially. I also don't like their pricing model, since they require up-front payment for a product I won't ever use. I would love to see WINE adopt a payment system like TG. This way I can donate $5 per month, have it go "directly" to WINE development efforts (not beer, parties, conferences, etc), and have it pulled directly from an account that I hold (since I do not use Paypal for numerous reasons). Is this an unreasonable request? Should I just "eat-it" and purchase a personal copy of CXO? I guess I could give it as a gift to a friend or something... I'd love to hear your opinions on the matter. Thank you for your time, Frank Russo

wine latest packages for feisty

For what it's worth, I added the Edgy wine repository and used the Edgy packages for wine 0.9.34 under Feisty. It seems to work, so I'll probably use the Edgy repository until the Feisty repository starts up.

Thanks all, culript is found! My /etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf are OK. At last I changed nameserver to the public one (195.242.2.126) and everything began to work! I think someone hijacked DNS in the LAN. What is strange, all other sites except winehq.org I tried worked OK. So I put the issue to winehq. Sorry. > Yikes! Is Wine a platform for Codeweaver to make money?! Please help me understand.

While we're on the subject, I've got a question about the situation. I know I can go to Codeweavers and download the source for crossover wine. But, if someone is trying to review codeweavers patches to "fix them up" for wine, that isn't very convenient (I can't imagine a diff of the entire source, or even one file, being useful). I know that a lot of codeweavers patches get submitted to wine, but do ALL of them? Is there a way to access the codeweavers wine development tree? I ask because I've seen people post here "There's a hack in crossover that makes that work, if you want you can clean it up for wine." I'm just curious as to how easy it would actually be to do that.

Hi guys, I'm trying to find the source of a problem in SmartBarXP before I make another bug about that app. Basically, with the default setup has a pane with an advanced system monitor. In that pane is bar graphs for CPU usage, RAM usage, Pagefile usage, HDD usage, and Internet Speed. >From what I can tell, the RAM, RF, HDD, and Internet speed are all correct. However, the CPU usage always sits at 100% (red bars at the top). I want to have a log before I file a bug for the issue, but I'm not sure where to start looking for the issue I am bringing up here.. Any ideas? The app is downloadable from majorgeeks.com, and the direct link to the apps page on there is in bug 8011. Note that the more widespread version is an old beta, and the homepage is down.
