[Bug 1246] - fixme:ddraw:_Blt_ColorFill Color fill not implemented for bpp 24!
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 31, 2003

Jan. 31, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1246 ------- Additional Comments From info(a)moabutah.com 2003-01-31 16:09 ------- I have removed the 24bpp section and reentered the game program. This fixed the problem with the illegible text and characters, but now there is a problem with the games "daylight" feature which is a shading layer. It blinks chaotically and does not match the size of the program window in the way it should. Attachments 378 and 379 document a session in which this problem occured. http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1246 ------- Additional Comments From lionel.ulmer(a)free.fr 2003-01-31 15:24 ------- For the fun of it, could you remove the '/* 24bpp 8/8/8 */' lines in dll/ddraw/ddraw/user.c. Ie remove this : /* 24bpp 8/8/8 */ { sizeof(DDPIXELFORMAT), DDPF_RGB, 0, { 24 }, { 0xFF0000 }, { 0x00FF00 }, { 0x0000FF } }, And re-do a 'make install' in dll/ddraw. [Bug 1244] New: - Failure to communicate with serial device
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 31, 2003

Jan. 31, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1244 Summary: Failure to communicate with serial device Product: Wine Version: CVS Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-files AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com ReportedBy: keldon(a)ont.com I'm trying to run Garmin's "UPDATER.EXE", which is supposed to load a new firmware image into a GPS device. Communication is done over a serial port. If I run the program without any debugmsg flags, it fails immediately, complaining that it can't find the GPS. However, if I run with: --debugmsg +comm,+file,+serial then it gets a bit further. The first thing it does is get the model number and current firmware version from the device. But it soon fails again before beginning the upload. Here's an annotated debug log: trace:comm:COMM_Init COM1 = /dev/ttyS0 trace:comm:COMM_Init LPT1 = /dev/lp0 trace:comm:COMM_Init COM2 = /dev/ttyS1 trace:comm:COMM_Init COM3 = /dev/ttyS2 trace:comm:COMM_Init COM4 = /dev/ttyS3 trace:file:CreateFileW L"COM2" GENERIC_READ GENERIC_WRITE OPEN_EXISTING attributes 0x0 trace:file:CreateFileW opening device L"COM2" trace:file:DOSFS_CreateCommPort L"COM2" c0000000 0 trace:file:CreateFileW returning 0x4c trace:comm:GetCommState handle 0x4c, ptr 0x41222858 trace:comm:GetCommState OK trace:comm:GetCommState bytesize 8 baudrate 9600 fParity 0 Parity 0 stopbits 1 trace:comm:GetCommState ~IXON ~IXOFF trace:comm:GetCommState ~CRTSCTS trace:comm:SetCommState handle 0x4c, ptr 0x41222858 trace:comm:SetCommState bytesize 8 baudrate 9600 fParity 0 Parity 0 stopbits 1 trace:comm:SetCommState ~IXON ~IXOFF trace:comm:GetCommTimeouts (0x4c,0x41222844) trace:comm:SetCommTimeouts (0x4c,0x41222844) fixme:comm:SetupComm insize 4096 outsize 4096 unimplemented stub trace:comm:PurgeComm handle 0x4c, flags f trace:comm:ClearCommError handle 0x4c cbInQue = 0 cbOutQue = 0 trace:file:WriteFile 0x4c 0x40f01851 6 0x41222670 (nil) trace:comm:ClearCommError handle 0x4c cbInQue = 0 cbOutQue = 0 (this line is repeated many times, presumably while it waits for input) trace:comm:ClearCommError handle 0x4c cbInQue = 8 cbOutQue = 0 trace:file:ReadFile 0x4c 0x41222a70 8 0x41222530 (nil) trace:file:FILE_TimeoutRead 0x4c 0x41222a70 8 0x41222530 trace:file:FILE_ReadFileEx file 0x4c to buf 0x41222a70 num 8 0x41222488 func (nil) trace:file:GetOverlappedResult (0x4c 0x41222488 0x41222530 1) trace:file:GetOverlappedResult waiting on 0x41222488 trace:file:FILE_AsyncReadService 0x41222488 0x41222a70 trace:file:FILE_AsyncReadService read 8 more bytes 8/8 so far trace:file:GetOverlappedResult wait on 0x41222488 returned 192 trace:file:GetOverlappedResult waiting on 0x41222488 trace:file:GetOverlappedResult wait on 0x41222488 returned 0 It then continues to do this several times, reading 8 or 16 bytes at a time from the serial port. There is then one more write/read exchange, then this: trace:file:WriteFile 0x4c 0x40f01851 8 0x4122256c (nil) trace:comm:ClearCommError handle 0x4c cbInQue = 0 cbOutQue = 0 trace:file:WriteFile 0x4c 0x40f01851 8 0x41222670 (nil) trace:comm:ClearCommError handle 0x4c cbInQue = 0 cbOutQue = 0 This last line then repeats about 10,000 times before the program times out and gives up on hearing anything. I'm guessing that since it works slightly better with debugging enabled, that there is a race condition at work here. Maybe the last packet never actually got written to the serial port, or a response came and Wine lost it. [Bug 1239] New: - Get/Set Gamma Ramp no workie if Gamma Ramp Size != 265
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 24, 2003

Jan. 24, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1239 Summary: Get/Set Gamma Ramp no workie if Gamma Ramp Size != 265 Product: Wine Version: 20020904 Platform: PC OS/Version: Windows 2000 Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: wine-x11driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com ReportedBy: robertebaileyjr(a)yahoo.com I am a newbie. I have run into a problem in changing the gamma ramp due to the size of my gamma ramp on my video card. There is a check in xvidmode.c which disables the get/setgammaramp functions if the size of the gamma ramp reported by the hardware is not 256. My gamma ramp size is 1024. I have made it work by modifying (defeating) the check and interpolating the 256 size gamma ramp from the Windows program to the larger size 1024 gamma ramp in get/setgammaramp functions. Should learn how to submit my ham fisted modification? [Bug 326] - Implement an Esd sound module
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 24, 2003

Jan. 24, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=326 ------- Additional Comments From jrhunter(a)menagerie.tf 2003-01-24 15:09 ------- I don't really think of this as fixed at all. Sound doesn't appear to go through the daemon, even when using esddsp. Illustrative example: Say I've got xmms running with the ESD output plugin. Say that I want to start up winamp (work with me here). I've got something playing on xmms, thus using the daemon, when the window for Winamp finally pops up. When I try to start something playing with Winamp thereafter, whether something else is playing or not, I get errors saying that the sound device is not openable. Okay, repeat that earlier setup, except this time I have nothing playing on xmms. I try playing something on Winamp, and it's going great. However, now nothing else that calls esd (esdplay, the xmms esd plugin, etc) will output sound until after I exit Wine, at which case it'll all come out at once. Short version: esddsp isn't a fix, it's a (poor) workaround. (I'd happily contribute a real driver if I knew the first thing about programming Wine...) Up to wine through around November I was running CDex with no problems. I recently updated to the 20030115 and now when i try and rip my CD's I get errors with 't?' everywhere(like in the file name trying to be written) and weird tab names in the Settings window. I also get 't?' stuff in the cdex.ini file. is this a known problem, does it happen in other apps? thanks! -- Steven Adeff ADEFFS(a)RPI.EDU Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

[Bug 1238] New: - configure returns a false-negative when testing for GNU style IPX support
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 23, 2003

Jan. 23, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1238 Summary: configure returns a false-negative when testing for GNU style IPX support Product: Wine Version: CVS Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-net AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com ReportedBy: dragon(a)gentoo.org I'm using wine cvs sources as of 20030115 and am running on a linux-2.4/glibc-2.3 based system. When I tried to configure wine recently, I was interested in having IPX support. However, configure was returning a negative result when it checked for the necessary headers. After confirming that both netipx/ipx.h and linux/ipx.h were present, I examined the autoconf macro more closely. It was then I discovered that it was omitting a necessary header for IPX support on linux systems: sys/socket.h. This is because the header is guarded by a test against the existance of sys/socket.h. The problem with the current wine configure.ac is that AC_CHECK_HEADERS([sys/socket.h]) is placed *after* the check for IPX support. This is most unfortunate and will result in false negatives previously described. The solution is to place AC_CHECK_HEADERS([sys/socket.h]) right after AC_CHECK_LIB(mmap,mmap). This ensures that it will be properly defined in the later test macros. [Bug 1234] - WINE 20030115: Misc Tribes 1 errors; DINPUT, OPENGL
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 23, 2003

Jan. 23, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1234 ------- Additional Comments From LogicDonut(a)msn.com 2003-01-22 22:44 ------- I would send the +relay,+dinput, but it seems to repeat this as if stuck in a loop after about 1000 lines of messages: 080d56a8:Ret kernel32.WideCharToMultiByte() retval=00000001 ret=40a955b9 080d56a8:Call kernel32.WideCharToMultiByte(00006faf,00000000,407a15dc L"\095c\3f00\2ac4\400f\54ac\40a9\ffff\ffff\160c\407a\f845\400a\b0e0\4027\0901",00000001,407a15df,00000001,00000000,00000000) ret=40a955b9 For sanity's sake, i redownloaded a new copy of the wine snapshot because i thought CVS trashed a few files when ppp0 timedout. After painstakingly recompiling wine (again) with of course ./configure --enable-opengl, the same issues still resided so it wasnt a broken compile/download. Ive fiddled around with Wine, since with Half-Life I had to work around dsound by making an empty file and having it "native, builtin". For that scenario it worked. Tribes on the other hand seems picky. After finding out thats a stupid idea doing the same with dinput.dll, i got a friend to send me dinput.dll and dinput.vxd from directx 8. Suffice to say that didnt fix it (mouse just didnt work at all, little response from keyboard). I have serious beliefs it has to do something with either my kernel or dinput.dll.so. I am not going to let this one die easily, Tribes is too addicting to drop it like other games. I'll keep you posted if I make any progress. By the way, the file as you requested (sorta) has been attached. If you really want that +relay,+dinput, could you write down the command to send winedbg so it would write directly to a file instead of to the konsole (> file doesnt seem to be working), it really slows down my 1.8ghz machine to a snails crawl. Ok this is really good. When i started it, it was extremely slow, so i told it to change its video mode from 640x480 Software fullscreen to 640x480 Software window. Major improvement in speed (dont understand why), but i was unable to select the OpenGL option that is availible in windows. OpenGL is compiled in correctly, since OpenGL works fine with Half-Life. I found this peculiar, but im not really concerned with OpenGL not working as of yet. [Bug 657] - MFC42.dll is not implemented
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 20, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=657 ------- Additional Comments From fgouget(a)codeweavers.com 2003-01-20 13:48 ------- Ivan Leo wrote: > If you can redistribute mfc42, where can I find it? The Wine project cannot redistribute MFC42.dll. However, application developpers who use that library (and thus have a Microsoft Visual Studio license) are allowed by that license to redistribute it _with_ their application, and should do so if they want it to work on all Windows platforms (e.g. Win95). Anyway, if an application developper forgot to ship this library with his application, a simple 'google mfc42.dll' should allow you to repair his mistake. [Bug 1232] New: - Treeview refuses to sort

[Bug 1231] New: - fnt2bdf conversion omits font encoding
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 18, 2003

Jan. 18, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1231 Summary: fnt2bdf conversion omits font encoding Product: Wine Version: CVS Platform: PC OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-tools AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com ReportedBy: jw1233219(a)hotmail.com When fnt2bdf is used to convert .fon fonts to .bdf (then .pcf) via the tools/font_convert.sh script the -c option to fnt2bdf is used to specify a character set. But this will create font names without the final "encoding" field. Without an encoding field the font will not appear in xfontsel because xfontsel requires exactly 14 fields in the font name. A simple fix is to change "CHARSET=winsys" in font_convert.sh to "CHARSET=winsys-". It does not expect GetClassName() to fail and just checks the buffer. The attached Hack fixes the problem for now, the correct fix is to handle interprocess class access. [Bug 1225] - unable to compile ole
by wine-bugs＠winehq.com Jan. 15, 2003

Jan. 15, 2003

http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1225 ------- Additional Comments From hughes2002(a)btinternet.com 2003-01-15 07:36 ------- I can confirm the same error occurs with GCC 3.1 and glibc-2.2.4. It is due to the nameless struct MONITORINFO which occurs in winuser.h. A temporary hack is to define -DNONAMELESSSTRUCT in the ole/Makefile. Doing this allows the compile to continue until it comes upon the next #include of winuser.h. So far, I've found it occurs in tools/bin2res, tools/wrc, dlls/d3d8 and dlls/d3dx8 and dlls/opengl32. Defining NONAMELESSSTRUCT in the appropriate .c file that includes winuser.h also solves the problem on a smaller scale.
