But I have noticed that the icrosoft cart installer gives the same directx problem; it did work up to some time ago. It seems that wine doesn't simulate directx 6 correctly, at least not any more. I've been pondering doing this for a while, but since I have other priorities I won't be starting until it drifts to the top of my todo list or some funding is available. It's not a huge amount of work but it basically involves rewriting the system tray code, so it's not a 2 minute hack job either. This should probably be done for 0.9 as it's a highly user-visible problem and will only get more visible as time goes on and the legacy systray protocol is abandoned. Winehack preloads a library prior to running wine to solve the threading issue with glibc 2.3.1. It freezes when it attempts to run InstallShield. Those are the errors only.. Unfortunately it seems this broke the display of the wingdings font though... Here's my complete patch to dlls/gdi/freetype.c which allows me to use Noteworthy. I'm not suggesting that these changes should go into the official Wine tree though, these are really just workarounds. It was something related to the window manager. That, however, doesn't work on wine cvs (20030219+).
