(since you say "file explorer" which I assume is the Windows Explorer, it's ambiguous, since its left pane is a treeview whereas its right pane often is a listview) Maybe look for WM_LBUTTONDOWN/WM_LBUTTONUP changes in the diff between releases. (current cvs) When running the eve logserver it shows and exception while detecting the display modes.
