Install the patch from http://www.longestjourney.com/help/patches/ and then the game will run. (note how the patch changelog doesn't mention builds 158-159 :) The main menu appears, but once the 3d engine starts working, all I see is badly-rendered characters on a black background. When the characters move, the area they were in is not redrawn so they leave a trail behind them. While the characters animate, wine prints lots of err's and fixme's.
