Under ALSA, WoW 2.2 PTR will appear to hang, but after about 5 minutes waiting it'll error out with a #132 Fatal Exception (memory can't be read). Note, some of this output is because I have multiple sound cards. Very easy to reproduce; just run the Qt Windows Open Source installer, it runs qtdemo.exe for you after installation. The error fixme:font:ExtTextOutW flags ETO_NUMERICSLOCAL | ETO_NUMERICSLATIN | ETO_PDY unimplemented bothers Photoshop Elements 5 quite a bit; it seems that app uses Qt 4.
