Examples for two cases as attachments. The webcam works perfectly in Cheese, so the webcam is working fine. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and Wine 1.1.9. The first time trying to run Powerpoint, the splash screen appears briefly, then Powerpoint just shuts down. The second time, a dialog box appears with the message "PowerPoint failed to start correctly last time. Starting PowerPoint in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want to start PowerPoint in safe mode?" If I click yes, the splash screen appears briefly, then Powerpoint shuts down. The third time, a dialog box appears with the message "PowerPoint failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start Detect and Repair?" If I click yes, it just shuts down. That user reported a problem that the disk was full, but i can't reproduce that, it fails differently here. To run into this bug you need Alex Villacis' patch here: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.patches/49916 hopefully that patch will make it into git monday. after applying that patch the intaller failed with a message 'Call not implemented' The problem seems to be: fixme:MsiDatabaseGenerateTransformW By just returning ERROR_SUCCESS, it ran into two other unimplemnted functions: MsiQueryFeatureStateFromDescriptorA and MsiCreateTransformSummaryInfoW By stubbing these out with ERROR_SUCCESS the installer claimed to be successfull (but i guess that's doubtful). The only solution I can see is to use SystemParametersInfo(SPI_SETWORKAREA) during initialization time, but I do not know how to deal with different monitors. P.S.
