Run 'winecfg' and ensure the 'Graphics -> Emulate a virtual desktop' option is off. 2. Press the OK button to apply any changes and close 'winecfg'. 2. Run 'wine notepad' and search for text (Ctrl-F). 3. Leaving the 'Find' window open, mouse click the main 'Notepad' window. CORRECT RESULT: The 'Notepad' window becomes active, the 'Find' child window becomes inactive and remains in front of the main 'Notepad' window. 4. Exit 'notepad', run 'winecfg' and enable the 'Graphics -> Emulate a virtual desktop' option. 5. Press the OK button to apply the change and close 'winecfg'. 6. Run 'wine notepad' again and search for text (Ctrl-F). 7. Leaving the 'Find' window open, mouse click the main 'Notepad' window. INCORRECT RESULT: When the 'Notepad' window becomes active the 'Find' window disappears behind the 'Notepad' window. Confirmed in Wine 1.3.2 and Wine 1.2. The wizard fails at the first step with the message "Advanced Video Options have been disabled on your computer." err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {51b4abf3-748f-4e3b-a276-c828330e926a} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {7d8aa343-6e63-4663-be90-6b80f66540a3} not registered Both classes are related to the Video Mixing Renderer 9, part of DirectX. "winetricks directx9" does not workaround the problem. That user reported a problem that the disk was full, but i can't reproduce that, it fails differently here. To run into this bug you need Alex Villacis' patch here: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.patches/49916 hopefully that patch will make it into git monday. after applying that patch the intaller failed with a message 'Call not implemented' The problem seems to be: fixme:MsiDatabaseGenerateTransformW By just returning ERROR_SUCCESS, it ran into two other unimplemnted functions: MsiQueryFeatureStateFromDescriptorA and MsiCreateTransformSummaryInfoW By stubbing these out with ERROR_SUCCESS the installer claimed to be successfull (but i guess that's doubtful). I have attached my patch. Installation and game start seems to work well. But the mouse icon is customized for the game, and changes depending on whether there is an object under the mouse with which you can interact. There are workarounds if you just care about the contents of the browser (e.g. you can use ie6's main window, and ie8's guts), but I don't know of a workaround for getting ie8's main window to work. When you play in windowed mode (or with dual-screen) it is really annoying (and causing eyestrain) when the gamma value is too high.
