I'm using wine 1.3.17 and the only thing that stops it from crashing on a headshot is to set Windows version to Windows 98. I use ALSA. Each 20-60 minutes (it varies a lot) during the single player game the game hangs completely and I have to manually kill the process. I've experienced the same problem on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) x64 with kernel 2.6.32 and wine 1.0.1 (or sth like that). I might try to run it from a console and try to get error messages.
