(see attachment Portal-glitch02.png) The screenshot illustrates how the sound effects captions in white are fine, only the dialog captions in red with italics are affected. I've tried reducing all graphics options and resolutions, to no avail. It looks like something specific to font rendering - the bounding box for the characters is not taking into account their italicization, so the rightmost pixels are being truncated. Unfortunately, in the case of dlls with manifests, it reports it can't find dlls that are in fact present. What it needs is a good dose of the medicine that cured the same problem in winetest: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2010-July/068410.html A quick test shows that this works.
