Yes, some similar cases were fixed some time ago. > To not change much code down the call tree maybe a temporary "real" BSTR could > be created as soon as possible from input "wide character" string. > Sure, but I'll better add some put_data() tests for all node types and nothing crashes on native I will fix all of them. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 30339] New: FINAL FANTASY XI: crashes when displaying battle effects in high-traffic areas
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org May 6, 2012

May 6, 2012

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30339 Bug #: 30339 Summary: FINAL FANTASY XI: crashes when displaying battle effects in high-traffic areas Product: Wine Version: 1.5.0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: emegas(a)vecanti.org Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 39652 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39652 Crash Log #1, recorded with WINEDEBUG=+relay at Qufim Island Planar Rift prior to Kaggen spawn As of the 03/27/2012 Version Update, FINAL FANTASY XI uses a new method of handling combat effects (particularly Job Abilities and Weapon Skills) to prevent crashes from occurring in Voidwatch on X-Box 360. These fixes also apply to the PC version, however, and they've been causing crashes in WINE. Reproduction: Crashes seem to occur at random whenever a Weapon Skill or Job Ability is used in an area with high player and enemy traffic. The crash always happens mid-way into the effect with up to nine server events buffered after it. (Rough location of the crash in the game's logfiles can be discovered in Program Files\PlayOnline\Square Enix\FINAL FANTASY XI\TEMP\0.log after the crash.) More players in the area will increase the probability of the crash occurring. More enemies being fought in the area at the same time (particularly larger enemies/Notorious Monsters with larger ability effects) will also increase probability. To Reproduce: Go to any Planar Rift in which players are currently fighting or are about to fight a VWNM (guaranteed 10-18 people) for a high chance of seeing this bug in Free Trial (see below) circumstances. Tested On: Gentoo Linux AMD64, using an Nvidia graphics card and nvidia-drivers. However, reports from the AppDB page lead me to assume this crash is currently happening across most distros and video cards. (I intend to test this crash on 1.5.1 as soon as Gentoo gives me an ebuild for it.) Testing for non-subscribers can probably be carried out using the 30-day free trial at http://www.finalfantasyxi.com/freetrial/ . Notes About Attachments: The first two logs attached to this bug were recorded using only WINEDEBUG=+relay ; the second two were recorded using only WINEDEBUG=+seh,+tid . This is due to the fact that +relay reduces the speed of the game to 0.5-1FPS on my machine and +relay,+seh,+tid all set at once will generate enough lag to time the game's connection out a few minutes after login. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 30584] New: Epsitec games which need DirectX 3+ give black screen after winetricks ddr=gdi
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org May 6, 2012

May 6, 2012

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30584 Bug #: 30584 Summary: Epsitec games which need DirectX 3+ give black screen after winetricks ddr=gdi Product: Wine Version: 1.5.3 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.ceebot.com/blupi/load-e.php OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 40018 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40018 Crash log for Speedy Blupi demo near Wine 1.3.34 Several games by Epsitec which feature their Blupi character don't render correctly if run after "winetricks ddr=gdi". This is a regression. The games with this problem are Blupi at Home, Speedy Blupi and Planet Blupi. Demos can be downloaded from http://www.ceebot.com/blupi/load-e.php I tested Speedy Blupi, http://www.ceebot.com/download/blupi/speedy-e.exe With the default opengl renderer the game works correctly. However after "winetricks ddr=gdi", with or without virtual desktop mode the game just shows a blank/black screen. The program is running, it just doesn't display anything. (You can click to quit if you know where to click.) I did a regression test, but unfortunately the result wasn't conclusive. 1.3.33 GOOD 1.3.34 get a crash on running the program 1.3.35 BAD, black screen I bisected between 1.3.33 and 1.3.34 to find which commit caused the crash: 0f10ac93580d5a055f0b3f6e7c3d77738135f031 is the first bad commit commit 0f10ac93580d5a055f0b3f6e7c3d77738135f031 Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Mon Nov 28 21:30:57 2011 +0100 ddraw: Create the wined3d swapchain when setting the cooperative level. :040000 040000 f8a8ea10d91985680fe1e29e2fb64aaf8bc59e2d ab3f595c09537f3f18bd03bbe708c584f62e3952 M dlls I then bisected again between there and 1.3.35 (doing git bisect bad on black screen/no crash), which gave this result: c43aa1ada82e30168a373d584ad7ef62a5e04677 is the first bad commit commit c43aa1ada82e30168a373d584ad7ef62a5e04677 Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Sun Dec 4 15:50:14 2011 +0100 wined3d: Only unload the surface when we're using GL for rendering in updateSurfaceDesc(). :040000 040000 2710baa1ce9dd8e207956e7802056a06ef874831 f2e62de0ba87f19f2705e53352affce2c88fd001 M dlls (Presumably commit c43aa1ada82e30168a373d584ad7ef62a5e04677 *isn't* bad, git just said that because I had to reverse conditions for the second bisecting.) I've attached console output when the program crashed, but that probably isn't too relevant since it doesn't crash any more. I guess the next step would be bisecting between commits 0f10ac93580d5a055f0b3f6e7c3d77738135f031 and c43aa1ada82e30168a373d584ad7ef62a5e04677, but at each step reverting commit 0f10ac93580d5a055f0b3f6e7c3d77738135f031??? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
