[Bug 31014] New: Performance regression: Audiosurf unplayable in wine 1.5.7
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org July 19, 2012

July 19, 2012

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31014 Bug #: 31014 Summary: Performance regression: Audiosurf unplayable in wine 1.5.7 Product: Wine Version: 1.5.7 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: ralfjung-e(a)gmx.de CC: hverbeet(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: 70008999486651b62bef641196a31f6c7002d0e5 Up to wine 1.5.6, the game Audiosurf [1] worked fine on my system (Debian testing amd64, Linux 3.2, AMD Radeon HD 3200, fglrx 12-4, wine compiled myself). However, after updating to version 1.5.7, the game is rendered unplayable: The menus are still fine, but the actual game runs with less than 5 fps. Sound is still as expected, but of course that's of no help. I did a bisect with the following result: 70008999486651b62bef641196a31f6c7002d0e5 is the first bad commit commit 70008999486651b62bef641196a31f6c7002d0e5 Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Fri Jun 22 15:57:28 2012 +0200 wined3d: Just forward wined3d_device_get_display_mode() to the appropriate swapchain. :040000 040000 901aae9a1f10635dc27916a9c9260710657e4516 5e0f894018153ba040091ace29474ccd9cfd0288 M dlls I hope I added the correct person to CC - the email address from the commit does not have an account here, so I googled around a bit to find out which email address the author uses in bugzilla. Please let me know if there is any other debugging I could do. [Bug 30857] New: Evochron Mercenary hangs on launch without native dinput8.dll
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org July 19, 2012

July 19, 2012

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30857 Bug #: 30857 Summary: Evochron Mercenary hangs on launch without native dinput8.dll Product: Wine Version: 1.5.5 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_85364.shtml OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-dinput AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 40415 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40415 terminal output + winedbg backtrace + dinput debug log The problem can be reproduced with the Steam version of the game as well as with the non-Steam demo version. Evochron Mercenary hangs immediately after starting, without displaying anything. I tested the game without a joystick or gamepad installed (only keyboard + mouse). The same problem with Wine 1.2.3, 1.4. The attached file contains 3 logs: a plain terminal output, a backtrace generated by winedbg while the game is unresponsive, and a +tid,+dinput log containing only a few lines. It may be a known bug, but I wasn't lucky enough to find a matching bug report. Workaround: winetricks dinput8 With native dinput8.dll the game can be started, although other issues arise later. [Bug 31191] New: All 'Sona Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo' games fail to start because of wine buggy string compare implementation.
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org July 19, 2012

July 19, 2012

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31191 Bug #: 31191 Summary: All 'Sona Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo' games fail to start because of wine buggy string compare implementation. Product: Wine Version: 1.5.8 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: kernel32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: ntrrgc(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified The engine of Sona Hanabira (among other many games) does use indexed container files for retrieving game resources. Having a key of type string, it performs binary search within the index to find the resource pointers. But, because of buggy string compare APIs implementation in wine (mainly StringCompare and StringCompareEx, which are called by lstrcmp and lstrcmpi), comparison returns wrong values, and the seek fail. At the moment, wine is just comparing DUCET values of each character (which is wrong in very many cases), and ignoring several possibilities of StringCompare API (like IGNORE_KANATYPE, i.e.). Some of them may apply to this bug, some may not. Anyway, it is broken. For Sona Hanabira games, a workaround is to use this patcher which reorder index entries in the way Wine currently (wrongly) look for them: http://vn.i-forge.net/tools/#sono+hanabira+ni+kuchizuke+wo±+linux+wine+fix This bug report is to (hopefully) avoid the need of that patch in the future. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
