If you comment out CoFreeUnusedLibraries call, it will start to work. Steps: -comple all 3 projects in the Workspace (Debug target is the only appropriate for the sake of demo) -make sure server and proxy are registered by running testserver.exe -RegServer, regsvr32 testserverPS.dll -run testproject.exe (the client) Expected behaviour: 1. it will show server's message "CServer is created", click ok 2. it will show client's message "press OK when ready", click ok 3. it will show server's message passed by the client "Hello world!", click ok 4. it will show client's message "call succeeded" and client will exit 5. after roughly 6sec it will show that the server is unloaded/ Actual behaviour: 1. it will show server's message "CServer is created", click ok 2. it will show client's message "press OK when ready", click ok 3. it will show server's message passed by the client "Hello world!", click ok 4. it will dump out trouble in the console and show client's message "call failed" You may call CoFreeUnusedLibraries anywhere in the appartment and it will break RPC on the server side. In some cases it will crash whole the server, like in the demo. Sometimes the installer would just bail out silently during download. Also running the inner installer under debugger changes symptoms. I've not found any useful info on MSDN about a 32 KiB limit on winhttp chunk size. Maybe the MS guys who wrote the installer made some assumption about some underlying native winsock implementation limitation on Windows. It might be interesting to see what max. chunk size native winhttp reports to clients. Opcode_2=2 register "TPIDRURW" is "Software Thread ID, User, R/W" Not sure if this is a "free for use" register or if any user space threading library code actually manages this register. One would have to search eglibc sources for ARM and any userspace libraries mapped into process address space, not part of Wine. The values don't seem very random but they point to invalid (not mapped) memory locations. I couldn't find any MCR opcodes in application code, so it's probably written elsewhere. This linux kernel patch has a bit of information: http://www.kernelhub.org/?p=2&msg=57979 It got committed to Linux 3.3.5: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/ChangeLog-3.3.5 (search for TPIDRURW). I'm running 3.2.0 so it's obviously not cleared by kernel side on context switch.
