Before this patch the frame rate in the game menu (press Esc while in game) was limited to <=60. Now the frame rate can reach hundreds. Behavior on Windows: frame rate is limited at 60. The reason I am reporting this: Shortly after opening the game menu there often is a short but very noticeable phase where everything behaves sluggishly, making it very hard to select the desired entry with the mouse. The sluggishness/slowdown itself may not be a Wine bug since is not a problem when I switch NVIDIA PowerMizer from its default "Adaptive" to "Prefer Maximum Performance". That, however, is not an acceptable permanent solution on a laptop. Sync to VBlank settings do not change the behavior. So far I have only been able to observe the slowdown when running the game in Direct3D mode, although the frame rate is now also unlimited when running in DirectDraw mode. I debugged the issue quite some time. If either of those files are missing from user's home directory ($HOME/), the game just freezes during startup. Manually putting those files to $HOME "fixes" the issue. I have been able to reproduce the issue with Wine 1.9.24, 2.3 and 2.18, all compiled from source. Error output is exactly the same. Because I haven't been able to produce this error earlier on my system and due to wide range of Wine versions used, I suspect that possibly some system library file on my system may have had recent changes which break compatibility with multiple Wine versions. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- I am using Arch Linux 64-bit. I can provide /var/log/pacman.log information if needed. I used a clean 32-bit wineprefix for testing. I did separate testing with POL, too. Though I am aware POL is not supported here, I think it's still better to supply the following information anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- POL testing I am able to start the game on PlayOnLinux in some cases using precompiled Wine POL versions & "system" version. Here are some highlights from POL testing: 1) The game starts if I use PlayOnLinux and "system" Wine version, in this case 2.18 (no staging). However, this is true only if I use Intel HD4000 GPU instead of Nvidia GTX 760M. I have an optimus laptop. With Nvidia, the game freezes and is unable to open the game window. With Intel, the game starts. 2) The game starts with Intel and Nvidia, if I use PlayOnLinux and precompiled POL Wine 2.18 binaries. However, removing precompiled library files from $HOME/.PlayOnLinux/wine/linux-x86/2.18/lib/ folder doesn't have any effect. What I am trying to achieve is to force POL version of Wine to load system libraries instead, narrowing down the issue as a result. However, I have been unable to get satisfying outcome. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- The game is free and can be downloaded here: http://www.codemonkey.me.uk/downloads/rollcageredux.exe You need to extract that exe file with "/extract:" parameter because Wine can't handle the Installshield wizard installation procedure correctly at the moment. Игра запускается, но кроме "Добро пожаловать!" ничего нет. Игра работает через интернет. On Ubuntu 11.04 a game only runs in compatibility with mode Windows XP and below. The game starts, but except for "Welcome!" nothing. The game works via the Internet. On Windows after startup (when the Internet works), pops up a window with a login and password, and further, the game works fine. Please solve this problem. We could work around this in wx but, ideally, Wine should handle this message. For that I use cupspdf as default printer and call Outlook with the '/p' switch and the respective file as the second argument. I have implemented this script well before the 3.0 release. I think it is running since more than one year. Initially I ran into the issue that Outlook could not open an MSG file and spit out 'Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook'. So currently I am working around that issue by firstly trying to open the MSG. If above error is given, I convert the MSG file to an EML file via http://search.cpan.org/dist/Email-Outlook-Message/ and then reconvert it back to MSG via: https://labs.rebex.net/mail-converter Usually, Outlook 2007 can then start and open the file correctly. So there is already something not in order in view of parsing MSG files created by Outlook itself. This was before the update to wine 3.2 Since wine 3.2, no MSG file can be opened. Outlook always drops above error message regardless if the MSG had been converted or not. For now I have reverted back to wine 3.1 and everything works as it should.
