[Bug 8332] Applications and games using ICMP ping request report 'no connection to internet' (Wine 32-bit/64-bit preloader requires CAP_NET_RAW to create raw sockets)
by WineHQ Bugzilla April 7, 2020

Dierick from comment #28) > Hello, > > My opinion is that someone should investigate what the anti-cheat of > battlefield 4 is doing and change the staged patchset accordingly so that > it's not necessary to use other workarounds. > > Regards. I kind of agree. I was the one who introduced using capabilities over using run as root. This was after a few users running as root successfully had malware nuke their complete computer. We have users currently using capabilities in a very dangerous way and some of them are getting hurt by it. There is really no nice system either. It would be good if we had like /etc/wine/security in that security item was a list formated like [wineprefix] [list of enabled capabilities] Of course anything not on the enabled capabilities for a wine-prefix would be dropped if wine had it. This would allow users to run some programs with extra capabilities and others without instead of the current blanket allow all or allow none usage people are doing. Of course I would prefer if a method was found so capability options were not required. I am accepting reality here we are going to have to live with some users increase capabilities on wine but we need to make it as safe as possible. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 18099] New: No keyboard response in Super Mario 3 remake
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org April 7, 2020

April 7, 2020

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18099 Summary: No keyboard response in Super Mario 3 remake Product: Wine Version: 1.1.19 Platform: All URL: http://www.acid-play.com/file/marioforever.zip OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: chris.lervag(a)gmail.com When attempting to play the free "Super Mario 3: Mario Forever" remake by Buziol games, we are unable to enter gameplay as there is no response from the keyboard when entering the "Select world" screen. In this screen, you are supposed to be able to move Mario with the keyboard arrow buttons as well as jump with the shift button. According to the appdb, the first mention of this problem is with wine version 20050111, and it is still present in wine version 1.19. Link to the application entry in appdb: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2363 Everything else about the game seems to be working normally in wine (installation, launching game, graphics, music). The game itself is perceived to be very good and fun remake of the original game, and it would be nice to be able to enjoy this little gem with linux/wine. The game is available as a free download from the specified URL. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
