As a testcase 「虚毒ノ夢」 will be used - a (it seems - I don't actually know Japanese) freeware game available from https://kanawo.wixsite.com/teritoma/kodoku (first link is the download: https://www.freem.ne.jp/dl/win/15104) Problem 1. As you might notice, the window title is purely mojibake. CreateWindowEx expects CP_ACP string in cs->lpszName, but it's getting an utf8 one. That's pretty much sums up what I could figure out about this part. Problem 2. This one is more tricky to notice; also, I couldn't figure out much about it, so just describing symptoms. Some of the strings printed on the screen (AFAICT neither by gdi, gdiplus nor user32 standard text functions) are read from memory then written on the screen past their actual length. What's more, they flicker - that is if such string is printed, some of the time its extra part changes upon redraw. As far as I understand mono (which, granted, isn't all that much), it would suggest that upon string object creation its length is set incorrectly. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch Altium Designer. 2. Close floating window (Storage, etc.) which will likely trigger an error (probably bug #39765 which I'll verify later) 3. At MyAccount/License Management page click "Sign in" link 4. At "Account Sign In" dialog (which can get stuck behind main window) enter anything for user name and password, check the "I have read and understand the warning" privacy invasion checkbox, then the "Sign in" button. Expected behavior: Dialog box closes then reappears a moment later when sign-in fails. Wine 3.19-3.21 behavior: Dialog closes then an "Out of memory" error dialog is displayed. Installation: 1. Download the offline installer from the URL (3.6GB). Extract to subdirectory. 2. winetricks -q corefonts dotnet461 mdac28 win7 I used winetricks 20180815-next. Verified NET Runtimes with netfx_setupverifier-20180517.exe. Manually triggered GAC rebuild via ngen.exe since winetricks didn't seem to do so and it cluttered up the logs when it randomly started on its own. 3. Run the Altium installer. To save time deselect the optional items. Other: There's a nuisance rundll32.exe error at start-up reporting "This application could not be started". As there is no official server anymore, this is one of the most populated servers. Running the client fails with: $ wine Trickster.exe err:module:attach_process_dlls "TrickLib.dll" failed to initialize, aborting err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"E:\\pt\\Trickster.exe" failed, status c0000096 How to reproduce: Download the Full Client and install it. http://board.playtrickster.com/index.php?/topic/47-game-download/ Download the patch(es) and extract it/them to the directory where the game was installed (there's an update every month) Running Trickster.exe with wine Tested on a clean prefix.
