Any cutscene in the game goes out of sync , sometimes basically skips the audio and repeats itself again. Happens with esync/fsync on. Tested on both normal Wine builds , custom Wine builds and also Proton too. A prior bug 46160 was filed about NatSpeak 13 hanging up at the end of installation, and I think that bug might have been fixed in the most recent wine version, and this other bug uncovered. bug 46160 Anyway, the installation stops as of this: err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 I have posted the installation log. If I kill the installation and then try to start the program, the program works up to a point. It waves hello, and then asks if I want to register the program immediately or run it up to 5 times without registering. When I hit either of these options, the program crashes. Linux native apps tend to do just fine , but there's no way for VR capable windows apps running trough Wine to detect/use VR devices. VR is supposed to be supported on Proton and hacky Wine-Proton hybrids, where first option limits support to apps from Steam and second one is a bit cumbersome to get it working. To solve this issue wine environment could provide thin VR runtime environment that catches calls from apps and direct those to linux native VR runtime that is installed on user system. Wine OpenXR library shouldn't be that complex as it'd be simple 1:1 mapping of OpenXR API. On the demo version it seems the user only loose the control. Interestingly on Windows, since Windows 10, the game has an exaggerated speed/framerate in full-screen. Which was fixed using this dx8 to dx9 converter : http://enbdev.com/convertor_dx8_dx9_v0036.htm However this doesn't change anything with wine. I attached my console output. You can reproduce the bug just by downloading the file and trying to install. I kept my terminal open for more than 3 hours beacuse the process is "running" and if I close the terminal it says that a process is still running and closing the terminal will kill it. It can be obtained, for example, from Steam or Good Old Games. I installed what I believe to be version 1.21.00. This is the gist of the error message that the game gives me: ``` SharpDX.SharpDXException: HRESULT: [0x88990028], Module: [SharpDX.Direct2D1], ApiCode: [D2DERR_EFFECT_IS_NOT_REGISTERED/EffectIsNotRegistered], Message: Unknown ``` When I run it as `WINEDEBUG=+d2d wine ShadowEmpire.exe`, I see the following warning from Wine: ``` 0114:warn:d2d:d2d_effect_create Effect id {9daf9369-3846-4d0e-a44e-0c607934a5d7} not found. ``` I shall be attaching the full text of the error and Wine's output.
