But after it was "rebased" in smaller chunks and officially adopted, it as if performance is even worse than before it existed (possibly due to losing esync too). Is it still not fully merged or something, being broken in half-state? This is evident in the biggest offender I've found: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54693 - Freedom Planet 2 (and its demo) is back to 20 fps (it should have no problem to get 200 even with CPU-only rendering, like vulkan:llvmpipe). I also see that in Dishonored 2 fps is often stuck at also around 20-40 (previously: 50-75) while GPU is underloaded at 50-75% and 12-core CPU - <10%. At least it's not eating up 70% of all CPU cores, like it did before (or was it only esync's thing?). But /dev/ntsync is with 666 permissions and I don't see any obvious errors and warnings. Perhaps, it's silently ignored at all or there is other massive regression. Tested recently with dxvk+app-emulation/vkd3d-proton using DXVK_HUD="devinfo,fps,frametimes,submissions,drawcalls,pipelines,memory,gpuload,api,scale=1.2" but wine's native rendering with mesa's overlay should show the same, last time I've checked. Mesa overlay can be used via: VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS="VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay" VK_LOADER_LAYERS_ENABLE+=",VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay" VK_LAYER_MESA_OVERLAY_CONFIG="fps_sampling_period=80,width=480,position=top-left,submit,draw,pipeline_graphics,vert_invocations,geom_invocations,clip_invocations,frag_invocations,tess_eval_invocations,compute_invocations" If everything work well, either your fps will be capped at maximum or you should see either CPU/GPU compute load or RAM/VRAM usage at near-100%, being a bottleneck. The effect appears like a black area, displayed very briefly just before the actual content is drawn. I think this has started somewhere with 9.x and I don't see this black flash effect in Wine 8.0. It seems every time there is some activity on the window area the affected region is "blanked" out momentarily before the GUI is drawn. Using Wine 10.1 on Xorg with amdgpu and Trinity desktop. Xfce 4.12 shows same problem. Is there some redraw frequency I can tweak to fix this? The "buggy" behavior is present in wine v9, but wine v8 shows the console output just fine. I believe the related change is in this commit: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/commit/4b63e888945b8ada2ddc043e435b93… In the commit, it is stated that this behavior can be achieved by starting the app with "./wine app | cat", however that does not seem to be working with wine or wineconsole (Please see attachments) When using WINEDEBUG=+console, I can see the application interacting and writing to the windows console, however nothing is shown on the screen. When a window is maximized, if it is attempted to minimize, it immediately pops back up, if there's another wine window showing, it sometimes "properly" minimize (sometimes even disappearing from the system tray), but then it randomly pops back up. Another issue regarding maximized windows, is that restoring them properly puts their top left corner to the right position, but doesn't resize them, thus leaving them with the maximized size. I can confirm that this is a wine regression as i encountered it both on an arch system where wine was updated alongside kde 6.5.X (so could've been either of the two causing the issue, especially after kwin had broken clipboard handling for wine, then later fixed). But i now tested on another system on which only wine was updated to 10.19, with kde still at 5.2.9 and the issue started appearing there as well. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
