[Bug 58872] New: Activated windows (via alt-tab) are not raised (sometimes).
by WineHQ Bugzilla Nov. 14, 2025

Nov. 14, 2025

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58872 Bug ID: 58872 Summary: Activated windows (via alt-tab) are not raised (sometimes). Product: Wine Version: 10.17 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: chiitoo(a)gentoo.org Regression SHA1: 8094acfbfddf0681d6c9fa2d61788da7d7b781cf Distribution: Gentoo This might be invalid/a KWin-X11 issue, but so far it seems that after 8094acfbfdd [1], applications running via Wine sometimes "confuse" the window manager with regards to what is the currently active window. So far I can not re-produce the bad state at will, but it feels like it happens quite often, starting with the mentioned commit, which looks like it might(?) indeed have something to do with this. What sometimes happens is, I have 1 game window in "full screen windowed" mode in one monitor, and usually a second instance in a smaller window in another monitor, though they may be in the same monitor sometimes too. I then alt-tab to, for example, the Konsole terminal emulator, but the game window stays visible, and any input goes into Konsole; even though it is not visible, it is the active window. I can then alt-tab more, and the bad state remains until I do... something... possibly switch the active window using the mouse, or alt-tab through more different windows. I haven't yet quite figured out what restores the state. I don't think I updated KWin or anything else before this started happening, and I spent quite a while with bisecting this, but as it is someawhats random-like still, I can't say anything for sure yet. Does the mentioned commit look like it could be related to this? Thank you! 1. https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/commit/8094acfbfddf0681d6c9fa2d61788d… -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 58891] New: Mono's ProcessTest:Start1_FileName_Whitespace test fails
by WineHQ Bugzilla Nov. 14, 2025

Nov. 14, 2025

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58891 Bug ID: 58891 Summary: Mono's ProcessTest:Start1_FileName_Whitespace test fails Product: Wine Version: 10.17 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: kernel32 Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: madewokherd(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- To reproduce, download https://dl.winehq.org/wine/wine-mono/10.3.0/wine-mono-10.3.0-tests.zip and run: wine run-tests.exe MonoTests.System.Diagnostics.ProcessTest:Start1_FileName_Whitespace This test, and Start2_FileName_Whitespace, recently started failing. Here is the source code for the test: https://gitlab.winehq.org/mono/mono/-/blob/main/mcs/class/System/Test/Syste… The failing line is: Assert.IsTrue (ex.NativeErrorCode == 2 || ex.NativeErrorCode == 5 || ex.NativeErrorCode == 87, "#6"); It seems it calls a CreateProcess function (I don't remember which) with whitespace and expects to get one of a few specific error codes. There's a comment indicating Mono is doing this wrong somehow, but since the test passes in Mono on Windows (according to the comment returns error code of 5, which doesn't match .NET Framework but is accepted by the test), that still implies a difference between Wine and Windows somewhere outside of Mono. Bisect result: 0fcc187de4117901e1c7c45b17e5f101d8bc6fe6 is the first bad commit commit 0fcc187de4117901e1c7c45b17e5f101d8bc6fe6 Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org> Date: Tue Oct 28 17:28:16 2025 +0100 kernelbase: Fix error returned for paths with a trailing backslash. [Bug 57569] New: BeamNG.drive minimizes its window during startup, with UseTakeFocus set to false.
by WineHQ Bugzilla Nov. 14, 2025

Nov. 14, 2025

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57569 Bug ID: 57569 Summary: BeamNG.drive minimizes its window during startup, with UseTakeFocus set to false. Product: Wine Version: 10.0-rc2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: logos128(a)gmail.com Regression SHA1: 0cda91856138e1d49fcfd9b6c2c9328146616baa Distribution: ArchLinux Happens only with the default (d3d11) renderer in fullscreen mode. The UseTakeFocus option is set to 'N' in the registry (HKCU\Software\Wine\X11 Driver\UseTakeFocus). Since this option is turned on by default in Wine, normally it doesn't cause the aforementioned issue. Although, it would be a problem for Proton, where UseTakeFocus is tuned off by default (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/wine/commit/d30ce49ed8b40b9c29b5cc374987ca…) as it helps some games launch properly. I use it to run Forza Horizon 5, etc., (Wine-Staging + patches + Steam). I didn't notice this right away, as I use borderless in BeamNG, which works properly with UseTakeFocus=false. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 58918] New: Baldur's Gate 3 : Assertion failed : "!status && "vkQueueSubmit2KHR""
by WineHQ Bugzilla Nov. 14, 2025

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58918 Bug ID: 58918 Summary: Baldur's Gate 3 : Assertion failed : "!status && "vkQueueSubmit2KHR"" Product: Wine Version: 10.18 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: win32u Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: felix(a)lhfblc.fr Distribution: --- Created attachment 79600 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79600 log Reproduced with: - Baldur's Gate 3, GOG version (v4.1.1.6946847). Using the vulkan version - wine 10.18 - mesa 25.2.6 (using radv) Game fails to start, and shows an error dialog detailing the `err:msvcrt:_wassert` line from the attached log Analysis: Starting with commit 5aa9978 "win32u: Hook vkQueueSubmit and vkQueueSubmit2 functions.", windows calls to both `vkQueueSubmit2` and 'vkQueueSubmit2KHR` are routed to the device's `vkQueueSubmit2`. However, the driver will only load the `vkQueueSubmit2` function if the game loads vulkan with version >=1.3, and `vkQueueSubmit2KHR` if the VK_KHR_synchronization2 extension is enabled. This results in a null function call for games loading the second function, but not the first. Patch attached -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
