Mostly noticable in a selected few rooms, havent noticed any case where it did not run faster than intended in those areas. This bug isnt specific to said areas however, also noticed a case where a previously not affected area sped up after a transition but that only happened once. Normally the game would then appear, but it almost always just freezes at the loading screen. The one exception I found is the basic and advanced training, which always finishes loading and is playable. This seems to only happen on Mac. Audio is played normally and the app proceeds to the main menu after the video ends. Also, pressing a key aborts the video as expected. The video is visible on a native XP machine. Both apps use smackw32.dll to display the video. When wine runs in virtual desktop mode and the intro video of MechCommander is over, as soon as the mouse pointer leaves the window, the game freezes and I get a backtrace on the console. There are no errors or fixmes directly related to the crash. If I then use ctrl+c in the console, the internal debugger of MechCommander starts (this also happens if the crash has not happened), but does not seem to be of any use (missing debug symbols I think), but at least the program does not die totally. If I disable direct draw for MechCommander (edit prefs.cfg in game directory and set "b DirectDraw = F") the game runs in windowed mode itself and I have not seen the crash happen. I have seen it happen with MechCommander Gold and also with the free demo of MechCommander. For that purpose, I installed the xboxdrv (the userspace driver for xbox 360 and 1 gamepads) and after running xboxdrv with the command xboxdrv --silent --trigger-as-button, I started the game. The game has support for joysticks (I made sure I enabled joystick support in the in-game options). However, the game does not detect it, since it does not respond to any button presses or axis movements from the gamepad. When running the game from the terminal, the output I get with the gamepad attached to the PC is attached to this bug report. I have tried running the game natively on Windows 7 and XP SP3 with the gamepad attached and it is detected and runs as expected. Furthermore, by running STO with apimonitor from http://www.rohitab.com/apimonitor in Windows, I was able to determine that the game uses direct input 8, specifically the IDirectInputDevice8 and IDirectInput8 interfaces, to detect and control the system mouse and any attached joystick. It uses in particular the IDirectInput8::EnumDevices to find any available joysticks. In order to determine if this is an issue specific to this game running on Wine, I tried using the gamepad with another game well supported by wine and which also supports joysticks: Trackmania Nations Forever. This one detects the gamepad as a joystick automatically and by adding +dinput to WINEDEBUG, I noticed the following line on the output: Code: trace:dinput:IDirectInputWImpl_EnumDevices (this=0x12f718,0x0004 'DIDEVTYPE_JOYSTICK',0x8fc5a0,0x12238a0,0001). Endless legend crashes after nvidia logo (I think, I can hear their slogan but the screen is black). No crash log is generated. I tried with and with out glsl, same result. Endless space 2 crashes after a few moments. Here there is a crash after a few moments. There is no sound so I don't know when exactly but when emulating win 8.1 there is a crash log. Tested on Firefox 52 ESR, Waterfox and latest Pale Moon (you have to enable media.wmf.vp9.enabled to true for the latter so you can play videos on Youtube without native mfplat / vdec DLLs). I skimmed through Firefox's source code, it appears to be using IAudioStreamVolume::SetAllVolumes or similar calls. When I poked through Wine's code, it seems only coreaudio driver actually does anything here. The pulseaudio driver's SetAllVolumes is basically a no-op because it doesn't do anything with the volume it sets (except retrieve it with GetAllVolumes), and it's never sent to libpulse so of course it doesn't have any effect. The coreaudio driver does call ca_setvol or ca_session_setvol where the pulse driver is missing such a thing completely. With a quick search I found that pa_context_set_sink_input_volume might be useful for this purpose, but I don't really know much about libpulse, perhaps there's a better way. What would happen if you fooled a game that needed 256 colour depth into thinking that's what it is running in while it is actually running at 24bit? I ask this as I am unable to change my colour depth and reduce my resolution below 640x480. And even when I could change my colour depth it meant restarting the X-server. It has never been successfully installed via the installer but it has still been possible to install and open/start the rest of the program (in order to rip and stuff). Attached is a log of running "wine Alcohol52.exe" without debugger attached, but I can attach a log with relevant flags if anyone knows what those might be. The program is freeware and can be obtained from http://www.filefacts.com/alcohol-52-free-edition-info (linked from official alcoholsoft.com website). The program and wine-versions: * wine-8.7: 32bit and 64bit works * wine-8.8 to wine-8.19: No idea, cannot build properly * wine-8.20 to wine-9.18: 32bit works. 64bit doesn't work * wine-9.19: neither 32 nor 64bit works All versions are built from official git repo with 32bit and 64bit built in separate folders according to instructions on wiki. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
