Tested with the Steam and GOG.com versions. Demo is available on Steam but it is not affected (the demo uses different video format for videos). This is after commit 2f180106471a41fa3d95f21919b87b94d8e13e63 amstream: Implement the custom ddraw stream allocator. The allocator has a lot of custom behaviour that is very visible in how it interacts with Update(). Naturally this has the benefit of writing directly into the mapped surfaces. I was using the GOG version of Incoming, but the demo (the same one mentioned in bug 44864, MD5: 5b1fff6863768eeff95167e510d09a2e, SHA256: dcc55a269c33ea5363cd937284752d7ffe57f4774c55a38dfdd4a9172376563c, 3.8MB file called incoming.exe, available via cnet.com at least) also exhibits the same issue. I have attached the terminal output from the GOG version as log.txt, and I will also attach the terminal output of the GOG version as well as the demo versions of those two. The wine version I am using is from the Arch Linux repositories, and I am using a clean 64 bit wineprefix with no settings changed at all (this setup worked fine before), although I also tried a 32 bit wineprefix, same results. I can start ChessBase 18 from the command line with `WINEDEBUG="-warn+all,warn-dpa" wine start "C:\\Program Files\\ChessBase\\CBase18\\CBase18.exe"` in a 64-bit prefix. The application launches as usual, but after a few seconds, it stops responding to the mouse altogether. The CBase18.exe process consumes around 200% CPU as shown in `top` when this situation occurs. The log output does show new log entries when I focus or unfocus the virtual-desktop window, but otherwise, it does not typically appear to be logging anything. I then stop the process from the command line with, for instance, `killall CBase18.exe`. Also, the .net 2 installer would be happier in winxp mode if wine supported junction points (see bug 10601): "The .NET 2.0 Framework installer checks if the target volume is NTFS filesystem type and then uses the FSCTL_SET_REPARSE_POINT ioctl (used for mount points and junctions) to create junction points for each registered assembly in Windows SxS directory to GAC assembly directory (link target). This bug occurs from version 612 and onward (now at 613), which basically doesn't open the window at all (but the process isn't killed, so it just hangs in the terminal and I'm unable to terminate it). It seems the amount of time it can take depends on system, on my main machine I've had it take a minute sometimes, whereas my laptop (which is much slower) can somehow do so in up to about 10 seconds. Go to Devices>MIDI, and set Input Port 1 to "Midi Through Port-0" 7. The VS2022 (and I think also VS2019) C++ standard library in C++20 mode uses this DLL to implement the timezone database as specified by the C++ standard. The standard library loads this DLL dynamically with LoadLibraryExW (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>) and throws a std::system_error (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…> and <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>) when it cannot load it. In order to provide compatibility with modern Windows versions, IMHO Wine should thus ship a compatible icu.dll. A similar issue also exists for older Windows versions even on the Microsoft side (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/issues/1911>). This issue arose since I recently modernized timezone handling in OpenMPT by using C++20 chrono. For now, I have worked around the problem in OpenMPT. Towards the end of this install the installer will fail with HRESULT 0x80070643, leaving little or no information in the %TEMP% folder as to the cause. The installer will only run if wine is set to WinXP. Process used to reproduce: WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks gecko WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks windowscodecs ie7 msxml3 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wineboot WINEDEBUG=+relay WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wine Downloads/net40/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe &> net-out I also attempted to install the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile prior to installing the Full package. This provides the same error, the only difference to the above process used was the filename of the Client Profile installer dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe. With the recent rustup 1.27.0 using wine-staging with the ntdll-Junction_Points patches, the toolchain installation doesn't complete properly, failing to write to the settings.toml under the prefix home .rustup directory info. A bug with the same root cause is also present on rustup 1.26.0 where while the installation was completing properly, it was failing to remove the .rustup/tmp/* directories, causing issues with subsequent installations. Both bugs express the same behavioral pattern with few differences. I investigated the directory bug firstly, so I will detail this, and confirmed that the problem and the expected solution are the same. Rustup (or one of it's dependency managing files) get the handle of the temporary directory using CreateFileW and then checking if it's a reparse point using DeviceIoControl with FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT. The directories (and the file) aren't reparse points at all, so the readlink fails returining EINVAL. This EINVAL is then mapped to an NT_STATUS using errno_to_status that map EINVAL to STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER. However this mapping is incorrect for FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT as in this case applications that handle this case like rustup try to handle this case by epxecting STATUS_NOT_A_REPARSE_POINT. My OS is Xubuntu 15.04, 64-bit. It is a graphic programming tool for a series of controllers for heating, solar heat, warm water and similar that are made by the Austrian company "Technische Alternative". The programme can be downloaded from their website at http://www.ta.co.at/de/download/software/tapps-2.html . I'm using the German language version. The programme seems to run fine, apart from the one point: Whenever I try to copy/paste an Object, wine crashes as soon as I select "paste" from the menu or type Ctrl-V on the keybord. The problem persists in wine 1.7.47; cf. discussion on https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24953&sid=cea1d4583ec853e13e85… . Attached is wine's crash report. When the window is on the right monitor that continues, so the menus are not shown, since they are likely drawn off screen. Setting the left monitor as primary fixes this as a workaround. That meanst that not accepting buzilla bugs with DXVK is wrong/offernsive/unfriendly. For new users it will give quick access to information on programs they may be planning on attempting to use with wine. For advanced users and contributors it will be a useful tool to gauge which programs need high quality testing and possibly give inspiration for developing patches to improve bronze and garbage rating entries.
