I'm a relatively new user and have encountered an issue when running a Windows application called Bonsai-Rx under Wine. Bonsai-Rx is a C#/.NET-based application widely used in neuroscience research. Traditionally, Bonsai running on Linux has relied on Mono, but I’m exploring the possibility of running Bonsai using Wine instead. System Details: Wine version: Built from source (latest master, 10.7) using Shared-WoW64 instructions Bonsai version: Installed from official site (latest, 2.8.5): https://bonsai-rx.org/docs/articles/installation.html Wine prefix setup: .NET Framework 4.8 installed via winetricks -q dotnet48 System: Ubuntu 24.04, x86_64, kernel 6.8.0-59-generic The Issue: Bonsai installs and launches correctly. The welcome menu displays, but selecting any option that would launch the main editor window or the package manager (e.g., New File, Open File, Manage Packages, etc.) causes the application to crash due to an assertion in the function: `TREEVIEW_DoSelectItem(TREEVIEW_INFO *infoPtr, INT action, HTREEITEM newSelect, INT cause)` Observations: If I comment out the assertion line in the above function and rebuild Wine, Bonsai functionality works as expected. I’ve tested several native DLL overrides (comctl32, comdlg32, vcrun6) without success. The issue persists in multiple Wine versions (10.3 through 10.7). Questions: What are the implications of removing this assertion in TREEVIEW_DoSelectItem? Could this point to a misbehaviour in Bonsai, or is it a Wine edge case that should be handled more gracefully? Is there a better workaround or fix for ensuring compatibility with this application? I’ve attached the full error stack trace for reference. Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated. First i want to say that this is not the only autoclicker i've tried. AutoClick v2.2, AutoClickerPRO v2.5 and Auto Clicker by MurGee.com, to name a few, is other autoclickers i've tested. None of those is able to (for example) doubleclick at the Computer icon at the desktop. The attached screenshot taken from Mofiki's Autoclicker, show the cordinates where the Computer icon is located, and that the Double Click option is active. Those autoclickers just somehow doesn't get allowed to pass through their clicks, or what now can be blocking the choosen clickmode. I can atleast see that the cursor moves to the given cordinates, and then nothing more. The idealclicker i would like to work in Wine, is AutoClickerPRO (by valissoft), but the official webpage have been down for a year or more now though. Will there be any autoclicker for Wine, which is able to work with it completely, or is there just any modification that can be made to the current version of Wine ? It would bring me lucky tears, if it would at least do one single click for me.. :) Thanks in advance, and bows'n'bends to the clever creative people (that have been involved) and that nowadays are involved in this nifty project! The problem also comes up when you change desktops while the window is flashing. No error logs are attached because there is no output in the console if the bug appears. To reproduce the crash: 1) Download QIP (e.g. at http://qip.ru/download/qip/?http://download.qip.ru/qip8070.exe ). 2) Start QIP. If it fails to start (this is a bug unrelated to this one), try this work-around: go to your QIP-Directory (should be ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/QIP), open current.cfg in your "Skins" directory, and replace "1" with "0". 3) Log on with your ICQ #. If you don't have one, you can easily register one with QIP in less than 30 seconds (you don't have to enter any email address). 4) Open the chat window, make someone send you a chat message, but before you receive it, change the desktop. 5) If you receive a message while you're on another desktop, the chat window will disappear.
