If I then attempt to reinstall the game, I get an error saying "Error: -1627 Function failed". The problem is in the main/postprocess/rebase directory, where it tries to rebase binaries, ultimately calling C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Bin\rebase (from the Windows SDK), which tries to call the unimplemented function imagehlp.dll.ReBaseImage64, which causes a crash during the build. Since rebasing is just done for better performance, it's not critical and can be worked around by commenting out the relevant makefile command. Still, Wine should ideally support this API, and it's good to document applications that need it. And it is remarkable that Wine works so well, when building a project with ~70000 C++ files, 12 million lines of code, 37 external libraries, code generation during the build, calls to many Cygwin tools and Perl scripts, Java and Ant, .NET tools, and lots more. On the command line, these repeated lines appear: 0188:err:virtual:allocate_virtual_memory out of memory for allocation, base (nil) size 003f4000 before: 0188:err:msxml:node_clone Copy failed The software is 32bit. It uses separate xml files to store e.g. the (new) albums and their images. The software runs smoothly with small datasets but the actual database contains 100s of albums which likely explains the memory issue. However, it does not occur (yet) under Windows 10. The computer has 4 GB of RAM. free -m -c 100 shows the decrease in free memory while the swap space (4 GB) does not change. Unfortunately, the software is not officially available anymore but I could provide a copy of the program folder if required. The output of lsb_release -a: No LSB modules are available. Neither of them work in Wine. 1. After performing a manual save in the game, a 'save successful' message is shown on the screen, however, if I open the <Load game> menu, it is empty. 2. When the player dies there is an option to restore the last saved game: clicking on this option results in a crash as can be seen in the attached log file. The demo version doesn't let you save the game, but it does perform an autosave, thus the crash can be reproduced with the demo too. Here's how: 1. install the demo, the game needs native d3dx9_36 and dxdiagn (bug #32163). 2. start the demo with Lockdown.exe, skip the intros. In the menu choose <Single Player> - <Start Mission> and wait until the game is loaded. 3. press '4' to instruct teammates to stay back. There will be some bad guys around the corner, step to them without shooting so the player dies pretty soon. 4. the menu with statistics appears, click on <Load Last Save>...the game crashes at this point. There's nothing serious in the terminal, the game's own log file contains: [ERROR | IkeStateMgr::SaveGame | 735] Could not open file c:/program files/ubisoft/red storm entertainment/rainbow six lockdown demo/data/save/game/autosave.sav This directory structure does exist in Wine: C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/Red Storm Entertainment/Rainbow Six Lockdown Demo/data/save Inside ../save there should be a /game directory which contains the saved games. This directory (as well as an autosave.sav) should be created when you start the first mission. For some reason the /game directory is not created in Wine. Workaround: you have to manually create the /game directory before starting the game the first time.
